Are you paranoid about using your card because it'll be in your bank history, so use only cash? Are you paranoid about stepping into the store yourself, so only buy online? Do you want a sex toy but are too paranoid to do anything at all so don't have one? Are you a proud independent sexual human being and require no anonymity?

I've bought everything online so far. Mostly bc it's easiest.

I'm not shy. I go directly to the store, or if I have to, buy stuff online. Vould not give a damn about whether the bank knows or not.

I'm not paranoid about buying anything, but I am an adult with no one to answer to. No one but me and my bank people see my purchase history, and I don't know who would care enough about my masturbation habits to judge me anyway. I've never been to a store, but that's just cause I've never got the chance.

Most sex toy companies don't show up as sex toy companies in your purchase history anyway, they understand that some people do want to be discreet so they will show up as a fake name. So if anyone is worried about the first one, don't be.

Your bank, your postman *yeah, they can tell which anonymous package is porn and fetish stuff because they see so many of them*, the NSA, and local law enforcement, and anyone who subpoenas your records, the bank's records, or any one of a hundred other little bits of identifying data that floats around out there.

Why would the local law enforcement care that I am getting a dildo? For that matter, why would the postman, if he sees so many?

I'm not buying child porn, I am an adult buying a sex toy. Its literally not anything incriminating. Are you 12 or something?

I'm more curious about why the NSA is supposed to care.

They don't per se, but the NSA is more a clearing house for all other agencies and you'd be amazed what some of them care about or what they'll use against you. Especially since lots of drug shipments come into the country with sex toys, for some reason. Your name goes into the database and it is then in the lap of the gods whether it correlates with something else.

As for the more local individuals: Sex crimes in the area and the cops have few leads, but they hear that there is a person ordering sex toys through the post the filthy pervert? Welcome to your innocent masturbation putting you on the suspect list. Want to run for local office, but the incumbent is friends with the Sheriff or the postal official? Yeah, well, rumors start.

The pointernational isn't whether or not they care, but that they have access and it isn't anonymous. If one of those people happened to be nosy, they'd know, and not everyone is comfortable with having that on their public record, so to speak.

I've bought toys both online with a credit card and in-person in a shop (I think that was also with a credit card). The in-person one took a bit of working up to, but you have to realize that the people who work there spend all day selling sex toys, so it's not like they're judging or wanting you to feel embarrassed (like when I worked at a drug store and sold people things like condoms and anti-diarrhea medicine and acne cream all day and did not give a shit - it was just product).

Also, I think they usually use a fairly discrete name for the credit card charge and return address on the package - it's not likely "Sex Toys-R-Us!" or something. (You can check the website for info about this.)

I've only used online vendors that make sure to have a discreet name show up on the credit card statement.

Online, but I've noticed most use a non-descript account to take the money, and very plain packaging which is nice.

Like edenfantasy which is the main site I've bought from. "Our packaging is plain brown boxes with no external marks, and the return address reads “Web Merchants Fulfillment Center”. Our transaction on your credit card statement shows Web Merchants as well."

Only downside is it's great the transaction history is discreet and the external packaging is discreet, but then you get this plastic penis shaped package around the actual toy itself that I now have to cut into tiny pieces so it DOESN'T look penis shaped when I toss it in the recycle bin.

Though now I live in an apartment with a dumpster so there's no traceability, before it was a concern.

I'm a sex toy newbie but after reading your post, I checked out edenfantasy, and took the plunge, so to speak! I like how non-cringey the website is, it feels very clean and legit and women-targeted. Now I'm like paranoid about everything that could go wrong, like somehow my neighbors get it instead of me, or the people who take the packages at my apartment here somehow open it and argh. But hey. Not everyone has stable internet. Some families only have a household computer. Not everybody knows how or wants to deal with proxies and VPN nonsense but wants a sense of privacy. Not everything stays easily streamable forever, and some things are compresssed within an inch of their lives. The sea of shitty porn on the web is VAST.

It's really not hard at all to imagine why someone might prefer to buy their porn on DVD.

I don't mind throwing some cash at Filthy Figments, Good Vibrations, or Circlet for some better-quality curated stuff now and then.

I bought my vibrator from amazon so my cc statement just said amazon, not some other (even a vague one) more unique name that would jump out.

I bought my first vibrator in person at Walgreen's. Why should I care? The clerk probably won't ever see me again, and even if they do, I very much doubt they would remember that I bought a vibrator. I'm a retail clerk myself; we ring up literally hundreds of things a day, I can assure you that we don't give enough fucks to care about who bought what or even remember it.

I used to be a clerk at a Walgreens and I assure you they don't care. (Any that do care either give up caring or quit in short order because it would get too exhausting due to sheer volume.)

I go to a physical store - there's about three I can easily reach, though one needs extra reason to be there as the only other thing of interest in the area is my doctor's office.

I trust the stores to have discreet names if I buy on EFTPOS, but really, I don't know why anyone would look in my records, except maybe Centrelink, but Centrelink wouldn't care what I am buying, just where I get the money from.
