Because in all honesty, I don't even have time for an active fandom right now. I just miss the energy. I hate reading books or finishing shows and having NO ONE to gush about them with, or at least not more than one person.

I'm between two options and want some input to help me decide. Feel free to use this thread for your own questions.

So, I'm going on a trip to Europe this summer. There was a city I really wanted to see. However, there isn't much lodging left and what is available
is pricey, but doable. I've found a couple of places around the city that are really nice and cheap.

If it was you, which would you pick? Or how would you decide?

Every time I join a new fandom the following happens:

1. Join fandom
2. Find unattractive character very few people genuinely like
3. Think "Aw, poor thing. He's my new favorite."
4. Realize I have a crush on same character a week or so later
5. Can never let anyone know because it's super embarrassing

Out of the 10 or so "husbandos" I have, only one of them is one I'll admit to crushing on. None of them have live action actors so I can't even say "I think Celebrity is cute." :B

Thankfully this is not a trend in my actual irl lovelife.

I've looked at Udemy (but it seems hard to find a specific, good course) and Code Academy. I don't mind paying for a course but was wondering if anyone had any recs for websites to learn with?

Inspiration vs. Ripping Off

Inspired by secret number 2.

When I stop and think about it, my current project (a game) has a lot of similarities to a game that I hate. Similar narrative themes, similar end goals of the protagonist, and some characters that have very similar traits (one in particular, though the point of his character is completely different). Now that I've noticed it, I can't help but wonder if this project is partially a subconscious conscious reaction to that game.

So. Let me ask you your general thoughts: where is the line drawn between inspiration and ripping off?

Lost passport question

So I posted about this yesterday--I just found out one of my favorite characters from a show I don't watch anymore but am still in the fandom for is probably being killed off in the season finale.

The season finale's filming this week in Vancouver and it's spring break for me, so I was thinking I'd go set-stalk for a day and get some autographs. But I can't find my passport. Should I buy plane tickets tonight and turn up at the passport office when they open tomorrow with a photo, a completed "I'm an idiot who lost my passport" form, the fee and expedite fee, proof of travel, and a hangdog expression, or spend spring break bummed I didn't go and will likely never get to meet the actors who play my favorite characters?

Airfare's even cheap, dammit. Plus I found $65 Canadian dollars (and 25 Euros and 10 pounds) in my passport drawer. Plus dammit, I miss redwoods, but I always miss redwoods.
