Word. I don't like action movies, sci-fi, adaptations from comic books or superhero stories. . . yet I loved Iron Man so effing hard I'm still reeling from the force of its awesome. I can't imagine even the most die-hard/snobby/image-hungry critic saying that Iron Man was crap, especially compared to a movie about a guy who . . . drives really fast.

(Having said that, the "Press the button!" "You'll die!" nonsense at the end of Iron Man was PAINFULLY Sailor Moon-esque. "Don't use the silver crystal, Iron Man!" Blah.)

I'm not particularly familiar with what kind of tension exists between the various shippers in KKM fandom, but comments like these ruin the fun for everyone.

I am just bemused that Wolfram/Yuuri fans seem to think they're persecuted and everyone comes out in defense of Conrad/Yuuri whenever pairing wars crop up. I never would have shipped it if it hadn't been for the last episode, and at first I was like "WTF?!" too, but then I started seeing how it built up to that and I couldn't unsee it. I mean, JFK was a sexist ass, but he always thought Joan was hot even though she was "weird," and I think he actually LIKED her, not just her body. So yeah, I concur.

I didn't say she was normal. Just not extremely thin - she's 4 kilos away from being normal. My sister's BMI is 17 - yeah, she's very thin but not quite an alien.

Just checking. A friend of mine uses that pick-up line all the time.

Well, that's what I'm saying. Since Rukia is 4'8" and thin as a rail it's not impossible, but if the secret-maker had chosen anyone else in the series to emulate, she would've had a not impossible, reasonably healthy weight to aim for. Since she chose Rukia, being 70 lbs is impossible for anyone who has, you know, body parts.

They sound nice and reasonable because you're just dealing with pure numbers. Think of it this way: Someone who is 30cm shorter than you and weighs almost half of what you weigh. Did she have bones surgically removed? Does Rukia's giant head have anything in it? People weigh what they do for a reason.

Rukia's is underweight even for someone of her ridiculously tiny height. I checked.

Rukia is also dead. If the secret-maker is not 140cm tall, she will also be dead if she makes that her target weight.

Yeah, Rukia can only barely get away with that weight and even she -- 4'8" and a stick of a girl (not that I don't love her) -- is underweight. If the secret-maker isn't an eleven-year-old, she'll kill herself.

It's kind of sad. :\ Why not aim for Orihime's weight? She'll still be on the scrawny side, but at least she's got bones. No one ever says Orihime is fat. I don't get it.

YES. :'( I was listening to Recollection ~ Forgotten Legend just now and I started to cry. Hobo is hot as hell, yes, but... God it makes me sad. Doesn't help that I was reading some angsty kink meme fic the night before, either.

Well, clearly I weigh more than you. :D I eat healthily, so whatever weight I am, I am, y'know? That's the problem here. Secret poster is clearly planning to starve herself down so she can be like an unrealistic anime character rather than you know, try and eat a balanced diet and do a modicum of exercise to be healthy.

I went back and read that secret just now and while I agree with them, I kinda don't. One of the things that I've always loved about the interwebs is that lots of different people of different ages get together and enjoy the things they have in common. I don't think that you need to leave fandom once you get to a certain age, etc... I think that anyone who spends all of their time doing fandom stuff, however, has a bit of a screw loose. Either that, or they have no life outside of the internet.

And yeah, I wish there were more people with my mindset in fandom as well -- unfortunately, I don't think that's ever going to happen. I try to preach the sanity as much as I can, but I'm not sure it's particularly effective D:
