Orihime is a female character written and drawn by a male author. The manga in which she appears is published in the "shonen" genre, meaning that the "intended" audience is young males. She is objectified; subject to the male gaze.

How do we, the audience, react to this? Do we reject her character? Do we dismiss the entire genre? I've seen fandom extolled as a "space" for female sexuality in many a secret. What is our role in relation to her?

So, I wasn't going to comment just because I really don't want to get into it, but as I was reading through the comments already made for this secret I find myself unable to keep away.

It's amazing that it's alright to hate Yuuram/Wolfyuu or Yuuram/Wolfyuu fans, or anything else within this fandom, but the minute someone turns around and says they hate Conyuu or Conyuu fans the person saying things like that is more or less treated like an idiot...

er... 144 cm translates to about 5'6.5, and 33 kg translates to about 73 pounds. (i.e. BMI in the 11s - for reference you're considered emaciated once you hit 15)

Good luck with that, anon. (Also, I don't know what character that is, but I'm thinking that can't be their canon height/weight, because that's ridiculous, sorry)

11. 150lbs? 150lbs? And how the hell tall are you? You're not fat enough to equate with that picture or to get that offended. If you're pissed enough to end a friendship, then you're just dumb.

Also, stop being an asshole and accept that fat people should dress for their weight. It's part of the curse of being a fatty in the first place. Nobody enjoys looking at a fat person rolling out of their clothing, fun or not. There's a way for fat people to do/look good cosplaying, but that image is so not it.

I think the secret-maker said that s/he was 150 pounds OVERWEIGHT. So whatever the OP would define as the "healthy" weight, plus 150.

In regards to weight in general, cosplay, didat didat didat... I know nothing, and have no opinion.

07. Seriously? I think this show has some amazingly brilliant satire.

11. Well, I honestly believe, while making fun out of overweight people isn't a good thing, encouraging it as a norm is NOT okay. I'm sorry if you are overweight and it offends you but I dislike greatly how being overweight is being accepted because its not healthy. I also do not like UTTERLY SKINNY being praised as well though. I think a medium between the both should be encouraged and not this ridiculous one-sided business. I do however think that cosplay is fun, but I would never do it unless I seriously had the body type for the character. Go people who feel comfortable going against that but personally seeing a fat person cosplaying a skinny character to me is equal to a skinny person cosplaying a fat character, both are inaccurate, but go both of them for being confident enough to do it.

23. Thats actually amazingly cool. If i were your girlfriend that would be an amazing compliment. I give you a lot of credit for staying with her though so many times. That kind of love is admirable.

25. This movie is HORRIDLY REMARKABLE. I have yet to see Iron Man and feel I will love it as well, but Speed Racer is amazingly good if you understand both the original series and how corny is so perfectly appropriate for it. I can understand why people think it is crap, but GODDAMN I LOVED IT.

You're not the only asexual person out there in fandom. I read fics with sex in them for pretty much the same reason you enumerated up there; a huge chunk of fandom fixates on it, even if it's not explicit or all-out intercourse. But if you want to write a relationship that doesn't revolve around sex, do it! You aren't the only one who likes gen or even relationships (of whatever kind) without any sexual aspect.
