You share a surname with a fictional character. Check.

The surname is common among Native Americans, but also non natives.

The character is a cowboy, ie one who herds cattle.

And somehow the producers have made a cultural error because of a common surname and cowboys and indians?

You feel how you feel, but man, more context would really be useful, because it feels like you're looking for reasons to be offended, because sometimes Indians were cowboys too.

Yeah, pretty much. The Richard III Society isn't really about logic, and the issue is open enough that it's still possible to debate it.

You got that from "it makes me sort of uncomfortable"?

Things you liked more than you expected

What things did you end up liking that you expected to not like or at least like less?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-26 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
He's what, 55 now? He looks alright for his age and lifestyle.

Been watching Class, and I've enjoyed it far more than I expected considering I usually avoid shows about teens.

I saw the play years ago on a school trip, and the program had a note from them pointing out that he didn't actually do all the stuff he does in the play.

They're kinda weirdly obsessed.

Agreed. Jack is one of those characters who's GREAT as a secondary, but when he's frontlined... like you said, he's incredibly obnoxious.

There are lots of reasons to rag on Johnny Depp, but the fact he looks older because he IS getting older? That's not one of them.

I started watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on a whim. Was not expecting it to be my newest obsession. I even had a dream about Phryne Fisher earlier today.

I watched Green Lantern today and I didn't hate it. It's not great but I'm kind of surprised it was so loathed that Ryan Reynolds was blacklisted for years.

I only find those reactions appropriate if they were a HUGE fan of the departed, ie. X was their #1 favorite celebrity, X's work helped them get through a difficult point in their life, etc. If they just casually listened/watched/whatever and they make a big deal out of the death, it feels like they're just following everyone else.

I liked Bowie's music, but he wasn't my favorite artist. When I heard the news, I was saddened, but my thoughts instantly went to a friend of mine who was a huge fan (his music was inspired by Bowie's style, for one). He understandably took Bowie's death very hard, but for me to have that same reaction would have been inappropriate.

He's the reason I'm sad when people talk about how pointless the 4th Pirates movie is.

Legion! I thought it'd be kind of annoying tbh but I'm glad I took a shoot at watching it

I 100% agree. It was one of those movies that wasn't great, but it was enjoyable enough that I didn't feel like I wasted my money on the ticket.

The Hunger Games. The premise sounded horrifying to me, but it wasn't as morbid as I'd expected. I loved it, actually.

The whole Marvel franchise. I'll never be a hardcore fan and I'm not interested in reading the comics, but the movies are (mostly) fun,the TV shows are pretty good, and I find myself looking forward to the next project.

I still haven't seen the 4th one. Does he make it worth it? I hated the 3rd one so much he didn't make up for it.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-26 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
No, I got that from the "they dared" part.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I hate the first Captain America movie so much that I did not think I would like it at all.

To be fair, they said that anyone could potentially have the name, not that the name is common.

What politician

would you eat, if you were allowed to eat one?

I agree. I like the idea of superheroes, but I don't read comics. And when it came to media previously, I was more of a DC girl. I liked the first two Superman movies a lot and grew up loving the Lois and Clark tv show. And I liked parts of Smallville. So I wasn't expecting to love the Marvel movies. But I did. Right from the beginning I liked Iron Man more than the Nolan Batman movies. And I just kept loving them (for the most part).

Obama. He seems super healthy.

Sword Art Online. The way everyone hates on the series, I expected it to be atrocious, but I was actually very entertained. The series obviously has flaws, but not more than the average anime.
