Things you liked more than you expected

What things did you end up liking that you expected to not like or at least like less?

Been watching Class, and I've enjoyed it far more than I expected considering I usually avoid shows about teens.

I started watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on a whim. Was not expecting it to be my newest obsession. I even had a dream about Phryne Fisher earlier today.

I watched Green Lantern today and I didn't hate it. It's not great but I'm kind of surprised it was so loathed that Ryan Reynolds was blacklisted for years.

Legion! I thought it'd be kind of annoying tbh but I'm glad I took a shoot at watching it

The Hunger Games. The premise sounded horrifying to me, but it wasn't as morbid as I'd expected. I loved it, actually.

The whole Marvel franchise. I'll never be a hardcore fan and I'm not interested in reading the comics, but the movies are (mostly) fun,the TV shows are pretty good, and I find myself looking forward to the next project.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I hate the first Captain America movie so much that I did not think I would like it at all.

Sword Art Online. The way everyone hates on the series, I expected it to be atrocious, but I was actually very entertained. The series obviously has flaws, but not more than the average anime.

Happy Endings looked really horrible in the previews but it ended up being one of my favorite comedies.

Seven Samurai. It's so frickin' long, and it's pretty slow-moving, but I was so impressed. I am now a Kurosawa Appreciator.

Deep Space Nine. I was bitterly disappointed by Next Generation and grew to absolutely loathe nearly all of it, so my expectations for YASTS were very low.

I didn't expect to like Hannibal at all, since it hits pretty much every squick and trigger I have. But I loved it and it really wasn't a problem at all.

When I was a teen I thought I'd hate the Lord of The Rings movies because 'no dragons'. Teenage me ate her own words and they are still some of my top favourite movies of all time and certainly my favourite trilogy.

And I thought I'd like Shadowhunters a lot less since all I saw to begin with was posts about how bad it was. But I figured I'd give it a shot thinking I'd stop watching after a few episodes and I ended up really liking it. It's stupid for sure but it has fun with itself and I like my TV on the cheesy to goofy side.

Moulin Rouge

I had initially watched it only because Richard Roxburgh was in it, and I was trying to watch his entire back catalogue of films. I'm not a fan of musicals, Nicole Kidman, loud/flashy/all glitz/no substance (so I thought) movies, so I thought I'd suffer through this one, but I freaking loved it.

Better Call Saul. I didn't really watch Breaking Bad, I saw a few eps but couldn't get into it because I didn't like Walt so I wasn't expecting much from BCS, but it really blew me away and I consider it one of my all-time favorite shows now.

The Uncharted series. I never expected to get into as much as I have, and here I am writing more fic for it than I have for any of my other fandoms.
