Old TV Shows

(Anonymous) 2017-05-29 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
So I don't usually get into tv shows. I've seen one or two episodes of most shows, but few have interested me enough to stick around and I have a habit of rewatching the shows I actually really like. I just finished the first season of Twin Peaks but I worry season 2 won't be able to keep me around for the whole thing because I remember people saying season 2 wasn't very good, especially compared to season 1.

Anyway, I'm wondering if there are any shows that are over/have been cancelled that you all either wished was still on or didn't end well or ended up with a cluffhanger that never got resolved?

If only Peter Falk was immortal and unaging (as he would be in a just world) so we could have more Columbo

The Pretender. It got way too complicated, ended on a cliffhanger and the tv movies it got ignored big chunks of the finale (and were pretty awful anyway).

And I will always and forever wish Quantum Leap had ended differently.

Yeah, the way Sam got stuck as a screwed up and morally reprehensible Federal Agent just sucked.

Agreed about The Pretender. I loved that show, but the end was off.

Another vote for The Pretender. Great characters.

Sliders deserved more. A better last few seasons would have been great. So much potential that was ruined.

I just want more Legend of the Seeker. Not really a cliffhanger, except Rahl is still alive and ready to do more evil, and with the most powerful Sister of the Dark enslaved to him. I want to see where they were going to go with that.

Season 2 does get slow, but I'd say you still need to watch it because it starts strong and ends strong. You at least need to watch the finale.

I can't think of anything that didn't end well (I know there are some I just can't think of any right now) but I could always go for more Homicide Life on the Street.

With regards to Twin Peaks season 2, I would say that you definitely need to watch through s2e9, and you definitely need to watch the finale. And then between those two points, you should definitely skip some of those episodes.

I think that's one thing to keep in mind about older shows - they're usually a lot less serialized and it's a lot easier, and often necessary, to skip around aggressively. Less so with something like Twin Peaks than a lot of other things, but even there.

Well, Roseanne is coming back and it looks like they are going to ignore the entire last season. So that is very nice.

Ehhhhhhhhhh.

on the one hand that show was really great in the 90s; on the other hand I have to admit that I'd be really leery about any new Roseanne Barr content in 2017.

If it is good, awesome. If it is bad, I'll just forget it like the last season.

That's a really good attitude!

Both Roseanne and Will & Grace are coming back and are ignoring their finales. And in both cases that's for the better, really.

I think W&G will be good but I'm slightly nervous about Roseanne since it's been so long. W&G also did that election clip though and the actors very easily fell back into their characters.

Night Court was one of my absolute favorite shows in the 80s. it ended terribly.
