I'm kinda mixed about Loki being confirmed for the movie. On one hand, yay more of my favorite MCU character. On the other hand, maybe I'm a fool for listening to Hiddleston's talk about redemption because I kinda don't think that's gonna happen for Loki. Or it will be Death as Redemption aka that shitty trope that I hate. :|

Best - Science teacher who was funny, intelligent, good at explaining things, truly cared about her students and wanted us to succeed.

Worst - A math teacher who spent the first half of the semester on maternity leave with subs who played movies and let us use it as a free period, then came back and expected us to be caught up with the material. Spent the entire period copying the book onto the whiteboard without explaining, refused to take questions, said if we wanted to ask questions we had to come by after class. But her last class was the second to last of the day, so she always took off at 1pm. She hated that I wasn't 'properly respectful' to the boys in class, used to tell me that I'd end up marrying one of them and they'd teach me proper manners. Also used to mark my tests and quizzes wrong just because she didn't like me. I had to keep taking it up with the principal that getting correct answers marked wrong for 'poor attitude' was bullshit.

Best would be my high school Math teacher, who somehow managed to make her subject easily understandable to all her students. Absolutely everyone she taught had 5 in Math, no cheating. Fun fact: she originally used to be a PE teacher and would occasionally still do splits in the teachers room in her 80s.

The worst is a split between the Chemistry teacher who rarely showed up to class because he was drunk all the time; and the Russian teacher who just walked away in the middle of the class one day and never returned.

(Yeah, I was a teachers' pet so no personal gripes with any faculty)

worst: home ec teacher who didn't like that I disagreed with her on something, went on a tirade about what a spoiled brat I was in front of my peers, and left me standing in the classroom on the verge of tears. it was very hard on my fragile teenaged heart.

best: math teacher who actually cared that his students understood the material. went over things as much as I needed. very patient and kind. I fondly remember him.

Best: biology/sex ed. He clearly wasn't fond of the abstinence-only bullshit he was forced to show us, and he did his best to work around it and give us proper information.

Worst: Substitute P.E. teacher. The regular P.E. teacher kept private notes about which students were doing poorly, some of which contained things that would be unprofessional to say to our faces. The substitute somehow got these notes, and when he was pissed off at us, he read the more unflattering ones out loud, including names. (He was later fired for negligence after a student fell off the climbing wall.)

Best: I'm lucky to have had many great teachers. The best ones were my sixth grade English teacher, my high school French teacher, and all of my high school English teachers. They were all great people who were always available when I needed extra help and were genuinely entertaining while teaching. They all encouraged me to write and thought I had talent. Though not technically a teacher, I have to give a shout out to the librarian at my elementary school. She had a very warm personality and talked to me like I was a grown up and not a kid. She was always recommending books and had a knack for picking out just the right ones. Best of all, she would give me free books after I told her that my parents couldn't afford to buy them. I never questioned it when I was a kid and thought they were "extras" that couldn't fit on the selves. I later learned she did this for a lot of kids and paid for them out of her own pocket. She's one of the main reasons I'm such a voracious reader.

Worst: It's a toss up between the critical theory professor who was always showing up late to class (and showed up an hour late to the final and wouldn't give us extra time to finish it) and the art teacher who was always holding my art as examples of what not to do and always made snide remarks about the kids who had no "natural artistic talent."

Best: English teacher in high school who used to read out loud to us from a YA book he was writing and was overall a nice guy.

Worst: Teacher in graduate school who assigned everyone to give a long presentation on a topic and that was basically the entire content of the course. She didn't even talk about the material presented by the students. Every time she talked she just told us weird stories that had no educational value. (I never finished graduate school. I mean, that wasn't why, but it didn't help.)
