I don't think it's the smoking, it's the amount of smoking. And for guys that have trouble getting food on a regular, where the fuck are they finding all these cigarettes anyway?

They are animated characters in a not highly realistic setting. If you're going to have characters who smoke excessively, this is the way to get that done easily.

They didn't really have that much trouble getting food; I'm pretty sure it just seemed that way because Goku was always complaining about how hungry he was. Sanzo had some kind of divine gold card provided by Kanzeon Bosatsu, so whenever they found a town, they'd hit the best restaurant and gorge themselves.

Yeah but Gojyo and Sanzo have been insane chain smokers since the series started, which is nearly 20 years ago if I'm remembering correctly.

To suddenly have them quit would make no sense, especially since a lot of Japanese men still smoke. A lot.

I don't know why people are being such dicks about this. I didn't find your secret confusing at all, and I don't find your opinion that strange or unreasonable either. I don't agree with you, but I also don't find your opinion inexplicable or extreme - nor does it piss me off.

Not to be rude, but do you go outside OP? You'd be surprised to see the amount of people who still smoke despite all of the warnings and such. And yeah, being that it's from Japan a ton of people still smoke there.
