Job gripes!

Wanna bitch about your job? You've come to the right place!

Not a job, but some work I did. The attorney wanted me to do some stuff for him since it was here in San Antonio and he is in Austin. Which was cool. And he said he wanted to get me to do some more stuff for him as well. Only, I haven't heard back from him other than receiving the check for my work. He hasn't told me anything I did wrong. I got him what he wanted. And I requested what I thought was a reasonable amount of money based on research and discussion with other lawyers. Mostly, I just want him to tell me what I did wrong so I know not to do that next time.

My job has "floating managers", which means that Manager A is at my store for a week or two, then goes to another store and Manager B comes in for a week, then they leave and Manager C comes in, and so on. It's causing a lot of problems because we all get used to, say, Manager B, and doing things the way Manager B says to do them (and some managers are really fucking nitpicky about us doing shit THEIR WAY), then Manager B moves on and Manager G comes in, doesn't know us or the way Manager B did shit, and now wants us all to do things the Manager G way. Meanwhile, the assistant managers are setting their own rules, everyone has different days off so there's no communication between managers and assistant managers, and everyone is on their own until the next day when Manager M comes in and yells at everyone because we've done all the work the way Manager Z said to do. It's actually kind of funny, but HQ apparently had a meeting about this, and this was what they came up with to increase production. Lol!

What the heck?! That is a truly bizarre management idea. I can't imagine why they would think a constantly shifting management staff would INCREASE production. So odd!

That's... a really surreal concept. How the hell do they expect any kind of consistency? Sounds like a bit of a nightmare. :( Can I ask what kind of work you do?

Boss was kind of a dick today. His wife (my other boss) mentioned he'd been in a pissy mood with her lately too and she didn't know what was going on with him. Hopefully he'll be nicer by Monday.

I keep getting more and more customers who think it's totally cool to rip the packaging off stuff because they want to "make sure it's the right size." That's great, but we can't sell this now because you've torn it open, taken the tags off and then suddenly changed your mind and dumped it by the till. Come on.

I work for a healthcare organization scheduling specialty appointments. We have an epic fuckton of referrals on a daily basis.

When the doctor makes a referral, they are supposed to tell the patient to call us to schedule the appointment. Instead they call us (or have the nurses do it) to either badger us about why the patient hadn't been called yet, or to try to schedule an appointment for the patient, which is against policy because we don't want to schedule an appointment that the patient won't be able to keep. Even though this has been policy for years now, we still get people who claim to be shocked! Shocked! that we won't just schedule with them and cross our fingers that the patient can actually come.
