Self-care is one of those things that, after the get plenty of sleep/eat healthy food more often than not/don't be an asshole to yourself, is really personal. Someone else might love a soak in a hot bath; I'd be uncomfortable and bored.

Saying no when you mean no. Obviously if it's a situation where it's dangerous to say no, then go ahead and do what you have to, but passive-aggressive 'I'll say yes and then just not do it, or do it and make everyone else as miserable as I am' is stressful for you, and for everyone around you.

But yeah, you don't want to go to that party? Just say 'No'! Don't really want some of your aunt's green bean and sardine casserole? Say 'no, thank you'.

Good, reasonable boundaries are awesome self-care.

Oh, THIS. I think a lot of people don't want to come out and say "no" because they want to avoid confrontation or they think it'll be easier to either go along or be vague about it. But really, it usually only makes the situation worse in the long run. They haven't actually saved themselves any grief or confrontation, they've only postponed it and the longer they do this, the worse it will be in the end.

Getting plenty of sleep, eating properly and getting some exercise is so basic, but a lot of people find it difficult to do. I'd also add taking a break from social media and/or the internet in general, which is even harder for some people.

Turn off the internet and get some reading in when you can. Studies show the internet can increase ADD-like symptoms (or was it ADHD?) in people who don't have it, while there are tangible health benefits for people who read books for at least a few minutes a week.

When things are really really bad with depression, even the smallest task seems monumental. But when you've achieved one small thing, it's really truly helps.

And by small things I mean like cleaning your teeth. Just managing to clean your teeth is amazing.
