(Anonymous) 2017-12-17 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)Should I send an email to check the status of zine and if so, how should I phrase it?

(Anonymous) 2017-12-17 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)If you do send an e-mail, I would try to phrase it like you're just asking about what the timeline and ETA is, rather than phrasing it like you need it immediately, I guess. I think with small-team stuff like that, you do need to have somewhat tempered expectations for delivery dates.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-17 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)Hello [Zine People],
I was charged for the zine on December 07, 2017 and was wondering if the copy for [Your Name] has been shipped out. I understand that this is a busy time of you.
Thank You for your time.
[esig]
Keep in mind it's currently the busiest time of year for the postal system. I've had stuff shipped in December arrive well into January because of the backlog, and I'm not sure about the States (which I'm assuming you're from) but in Canada the date has passed for mail to arrive before the end of December.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-17 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)In short - does anyone have any suggestions for explaining older people that checking your sources is hella important?
(for context, we're European and you won't have heard about this non-English website)

(Anonymous) 2017-12-17 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)That being said, posting controversial things publicly on social media can damage your personal life. So I would caution her against doing that, if she is. Especially given that she is a generally nice but misguided and non-internet savvy person - it would be horrible to see her lose her job or have her reputation put at stake because of a misguided post on the internet. :(
Re: My aunt has started sharing articles from a rightwing website on facebook
(Anonymous) 2017-12-17 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)This is exactly my problem :( this particular website isn't nazi territory in any way, just... right-wing and the comment section is allegedly populated by conspiracy theorists even if their articles are generally just myopic. I don't think she'll suffer any big social consequences about this, but I'd just hate to lose a person I honestly cherish into that idiocy.
Re: My aunt has started sharing articles from a rightwing website on facebook
If that doesn't work, just let it go. She's 60+ and at a certain point she's going to believe whatever she believes and follow whatever sources she follows.
