I’m kind of disappointed too, although I spent most of the movie nitpicking the fishman’s biology and wondering what happened afterwards, not being heartbroken we didn’t get the NC-17 version. (That’s what fanart is for; anyone have links?)

If he lived in the Amazon river, why would he need to live in salt water/could he swim in salt water? Apparently he’s still part of genus Homo, which would make him a mammal, so can he and Eliza have merbabies? And I wondered if he had a name or how many of his species were left, and how they communicated. Could he understand the languages of indigenous people who lived along the river?

Like, I get that the movie’s a fairy tale, but I have so many questions about his species and also wonder if he and Eliza swam all the way to the mouth of the Amazon. Talk about a long trip. Wouldn’t Eliza have died without an occasional stint on dry land?

Peter is someone who has wanted that, though, his whole life. He lost his mother at a young age and was taken into space. It was easy for him to fall for it because it matched what he had longed for.
