why have you not banned "thewakokid"? can he do and say anything he wants? does he control this comm now? yuck.

I don’t particularly like wako, but I think he’s gross but fairly harmless, unless the boob job thread got a lot nastier than I saw before it went poof. And I’m a cis woman. I do feel a bit sad for his girlfriend unless he’s basically a different person IRL, though.

There are a lot of women with self esteem issues out there, and wako can be superficially charming when he makes an effort. It's not hard to believe that some poor woman with Stockholm syndrome is being bullied into a boob job as we speak.

AYRT— *puts on pedant pendant* however much of a troglodyte wako seems, I doubt his girlfriend has begun espousing his beliefs and defending him after he kidnapped her, since apparently, per wako, she identifies as a feminist and argues with him about his beliefs.

I sometimes wonder if they both didn’t settle in different ways. If he went the merely “in shittastic taste” rather than “Woman wakes from coma after ex-boyfriend knocked her out and had unscrupulous cosmetic surgeon perform breast augmentation, ex-boyfriend now awaiting trial pending surgery to reattach severed testicles” route, he could buy his gf a grotesquely padded bra and possibly still end up an ex without being gelded by a surgical scalpel.

Troglodyte

I don't know what the means, but thank you!

(Anonymous) 2018-01-25 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
I am Wako's girlfriend and usually I stay out of his "shit-posting on the internet" adventures but you must know this is bollocks. Accusing someone of that kind of emotional abuse and implying I have Stockholm Syndrome when you must know very well it's not true is a pretty shitty thing to do.

I can't believe I even have to clarify this when that post was so clearly a joke but I'm not being bullied into a boob job. Nor do I expect to wake up on the 14th of February with massive fake tits. Wako has never been anything but complimentary about my body. Please take your concern trolling out of my personal life.

then don't whining.

You're being the open one and all sexual over the place. come back again if you feel unconcern.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-25 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Serious question: Are you a Russian bot? You have a rather unique posting style and all of your other threads are about American politics.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-25 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
If by "unique" you mean barely if at all legible then yes, they're certainly unique.

Hey sweetness! Thanks for backing me, and I'me very happy to see you suspect nothing Know it was all entirely a joke.

You think I'm charming? Aw, thats so sweet.

Are you sure you're not thinking of someone else?

But it's not hard to believe lots of things. It's not hard to believe that Michael Cera is a robot sent back from the future to annoy me into committing suicide. There is NO REASON TO BELIEVE IT.

It's not hard to believe any of the millions of conspiracy theories. You don't believe something just because it's easy. You believe something because you have a good reason to.

Thank you. I can live with all of that.

And no, my girlfriend, I think, gets my sense of humour. She's the one who laughs the most at the stupid shit I say. You might say she encourages me. At very least she doesn't need it explaining that when I say she's going to wake up in 3 weeks time having undergone consensual and unnecessary surgery, that I am not serious.

NAYRT but I just want to be really clear about the fact that I found the thread really distasteful and bad while also knowing that it was fiction. I just want to be really clear that there were other reasons people disliked it.

That's fair enough. De gustibus non est disputandum and all that. Just find it mind boggling that people seem to consider it as anything resembling a serious proposition. If that's not you, I got no beef with you.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-25 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe someone like that even HAS a girlfriend. People can lie as easily as they like, on the internet. Like... I could invent a girlfriend too, and people wouldn't probably doubt it.

Not arguing with the deletion, but could I get some guidance one which rule the boob job thread broke? Thought it was pretty safe and clear is was a joke.

[personal profile] cbrachyrhynchos 2018-01-25 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll suggest that trolling with an old and bad joke that sounds like a Cronenberg rip-off really needs to be put under a cut.

I dunno, sounds kinda arbitrary. Like, yes, jokes can make people very uncomfortable, but that literally goes for all jokes. I don't see why a joke centred around one form of violence is any worse than any other joke centred around violence. If I were as much of a dick as people think I am, I could very easily go through every thread about humour and bitch about how X joke makes me offended. It would be the opposite of fun tho. If it's just "Well that's just where I draw the line" that's fair enough, but I'd disagree with where you choose to draw that line.

I also don't think it counts as an in-joke. Like, the absurdity of if should make it clearly not a serious proposition. What if I made a thread about selling humanity out to the alien overloads and how I'm compyling a list of people to go into the work camps when the finally arrive. Is that also too far to be considered a valid comment, because I might be serious about it? Random strangers might also be alarmed by that, but it would be ridiculous for them to be given any credit.

Also: It's a joke (supposedly)

(supposedly)

I mean... There's no "(supposedly)" about it. Like... I can't tell if this means you think really really badly of me, or if you live in a horrifying world where that seems like it could ever be anything other than a joke.

Anyway, point is, seems my thing crossed an arbitrary, which, yeah fair enough, you're the arbiter here just know that given that's the case I can't guarantee that I won't cross that line again.

Re: Supposedly. Ah, ok. That makes more sense. Fair enough.

"since you couldn't actually do it"

That's the thing right there: I couldn't do either of them. Does anyone live in a world where it is rational to believe someone could find a surgeon, collect the resources and actually arrange to have surgery performed on an person without discussion and written consent?

See that's why I think it's arbitrary. You have taken something that cannot ever be a seriously feasible thing (Surgery on an unaware and unconsenting adult person) and compared it to something that does happen quite regularly: Murdering your GF/BF (Which, btw, Depending on the presentation could still be considered a funny joke as long as the setup is so far beyond the realms of possibility. For example:

"I'm going to stone my boyfriend to death:

This might take a while.")

I'm sorry, it seems arbitrary to me. Of course it won't to you, since you're the one who made the decision, you based it on somthing, there is some line here, but I'm not seeing it. but there is no difference to me between a joke about one set of horrific scenarios that will never happen, or another. "I'm gonna graft tits on Boris Johnson" vs "I got my girlfriend a surprise cosmetic surgery won't she be surprised when she wakes up!" are both equally absurd.

"I'm gonna stone her to death with tiny pebbles" is physically impossible at every step.

Challenge fucking accepted!

I suppose I see where you're coming from, but I still think that's a really un-nuanced line to draw. "If your joke was for real and would harm someone you know in real life if you tried it no matter how absurd the attempt would be, then you can't joke about it in case someone thinks you're serious" is, imo, not a good line to draw and gets rid of a lot of potentially fun shit, but if that's the line you want to make a rule of it is at least a solid line and, hell, it's your gig.
