105. I know what you mean. I love Lelouch, I really do. But I disagree with most of his philosophy. The things he does, it seems to me, were not written to look like good ideas. They are the acts of an angry and desperate person, lashing out against an unjust society. Suzaku’s philosophy is built to show the opposite extreme. Both of them have their merits and their weaknesses. The show plays up the weaknesses of both far more than the merits. It’s like a commentary on how the chaotic state of the world makes martyrs out of the people who try to make peace. The two of them are like Malcom X and MKLJ to a certain extent. Just because Lelouch is the main character doesn’t make his ideas right – in fact, that’s what’s great about Code Geass. The MC isn’t necessarily doing the right thing from the very start – it’s all opinion whether or not his approach is the best one.

People hate Suzaku because they think his philosophy is way too naïve and cowardly too. It’s just a different of opinion. I don’t really see why any fan should hate either of them; they’re two opposite extremes, they balance each other and they need each other. The show wouldn’t exist without either of them.
