IMO, form takes a back seat to function when it comes to genitals of all varieties. Meticulously in-depth descriptions of length, vasculature, subtle shading, etc., kind of has the opposite of the intended(?) effect on me. Pulls me out of the story and makes me laugh a bit about how dicks are funny looking when you think about it too much. Obviously, YMMV.

I usually don't mention specific sizes in fic anyway. But whenever I see pictures of giant dicks, it makes me cringe. I can only imagine how much that would hurt.

Seconding/thirding/etc the "what fandom are you in" because I've never seen anyone described as a size queen before. It's always just been fairly common to see "his dick was big" for me.

When it goes into "his dick was 10 inches long and...and...and...and..." with the descriptions it just sets off a "has never seen a penis outside of porn before" alarm in my head.

Ya know...I like a big one but I'm very much with you, the way most writers describe the dicks in fic only by fetishizing ~how huge it is~, ESPECIALLY if they straight up give us a measurement number, is not erotic at all. If I had my way it would be, guy drops his pants, author just says it is "a nice, hard cock" and then moves straight on to how the other person FEELS when they see it. Can they not keep their eyes off it, do they immedately go to touch it, maybe their mouth starts watering, whatever - the point is it doesn't need any more description than that, really. We know what they look like. You CAN really luxuriate in it if you're a really flowy and descriptive writer, and it CAN be done in a super hot way, but it can also get real purple-prose real fast.

But yeah, I don't think I'd really noticed this until you pointed it out (I figured it was just a fantasy thing) but a lot of fandom has a real preoccupation with elephant dongs.

But if it's a 100% porn fic, I'm ready to suspend my disbelief), but what I can't ignore is when an author (fic or douji) tells me that the dick stinks? Idk why I've stumbled over this so many times int he recent weeks (especially in dub-con, which I do sometimes enjoy, sue me)... it's just... whyyyyyy.
