Text: I fell in love with this song as soon as I heard it. I've played it hundreds of times, and it inspired an entire quadrilogy of stories that I wrote for National Novel Writing Month. It's a really powerful song to me, and the bridge is awesome. I always thought it would make a great background track for a movie trailer (besides Transformers, that is), particularly something post-apocalyptic.

Then the Battle Angel Trailer dropped.

All the comments I can find about the cover are positive, and it baffles me as to why. The musical notes are all over the place, the singer sounds bored, and it's way too slow. The only good part is the orchestral bridge.

I know some people think that liking Linkin Park means I have questionable music tastes, but I really don't get the appeal of this new version. Someone please explain it to me!

Well, it's generally frowned upon in the business world, but I don't see what the big deal is when you're interacting with others in fandom.

It depends a lot on the tone and genre of the show, for me. The character type doesn't bother me if the show is more loosey-goosey or relaxed in its vibe. But it does bother me a lot if the show is misery-porn-y and intense and serious and prestige-y, like a lot of these detective shows are these days - I mean, that whole genre bothers me a bit, but the characters within it are especially bad.

Don't think it matters much whether the character's a woman, though, just personally.
