The amount of sequels is starting to make me wonder.

The hell do sequels have to do with fandom? Coporations don't base their decisions to make a sequel based on how many fanfics it has or how big their subreddit is.

It is based on how many tickets they sell. And I guarantee the vast majority of people of people who see MCU/Harry Potter/Transformers movies are in any kind of fandom.

I mean. It's not fandom making the sequels. I think that Hollywood is more aware of fandom than they used to be in terms of catering to them. But the number of sequels of any given movie has always been determined by box office success, which isn't the same thing as a fandom following.
