Watching the response to last night's episode of The Walking Dead is pretty damn good.

I'm with you. I wouldn't say I ovrecook them, but I prefer my fries and fried food in general on the more crunchy side.

On the other hand, I often slightly underdo my waffles because waffles just taste better that way. Also pancakes sometimes.

Mission

the International location kinda weirds me out for some reason, it feels like... dusty somehow, IDK, I usually go to Mariscos La Costa across the street if I'm in Fruitvale

I like Farolito in the Mission a whole lot too. Never been to Mariscos La Costa despite living in Oakland (not in Fruitvale though). I should check it out sometime.

Only when it doesn't hurt everyone else. People who voted for Trump who are now hurting because of it might amuse me if it weren't for the fact that the rest of us are hurting too.

Ok, so, this might be wrong-headed of me but I'm not much older than The Simpsons itself. I feel there's a difference between a stereotype and a racist portrayal.

I have lived near several corner stores or gas stations all my life and almost all of them had either a teenager working the til, or someone who was East Indian. Also I'm in Canada, and every person in retail or the service industry says "Thank you, have a nice day". That Canadian stereotype is true. We thank our bus drivers. So I never thought "Thank you, come again." was a joke or racist or anything. It's common courtesy.

That's how I grew up. Looking now, sure it's a stereotype but there's truth to it.

Every character on The Simpsons started out on a pretty basic level playing field of Let's Make Fun of Everybody. Most of the characters evolved, as good characters should.

I'll eat tacos, real or Americanized. I'll eat them however prepared, though I do have a preference for guacamole.

Ramen. I put only enough water to cover the noodles and then I dump most of the water out.

Only place for Mexican (using the term loosely) food around here is Chipotle or Taco Bell. If I'm willing to drive 30-45 minutes, Burrito Boyz.

So yeah, usually TB. I prefer burritos over tacos though. My BFF has a proper place near her so she indulges me on our yearly vacation to go and get a burrito there.

There's a new guy at work today. He looks like John Boyega. All the ladies are very impressed, all the men are just pressed. It's very amusing, tbqh!

I'm with you. But I do that with canned soup too. Not all the water/liquid, but a bunch of it.

Being in a group of people who are normal instead of fucking failures at life.

The book is much better. I read it as a teen, ironically bc my parents wouldn't let me watch the movie (but were ok with me reading the book).

It turns out the movie is adolescent - it reeeally likes its boobs and codpieces, but erases the truly disturbing bits of the book (like the characters' actual ages).

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
A Clockwork Orange is one of those books/movies that isn't personally to my taste, but I recognize probably has some sort of artistic merit. That being said, I feel very uncomfortable when I find out its someone's "favorite"--particularly if that person is a straight white, cis male between the ages of 15-45.

Because in my experience, a certain brand of f*ckboy always relates far too much for comfort to the "poor victimized" antiheroic protagonist than is comforting to most women, LGBT folk, and POC, especially since said antihero usually ends up committing acts of violence and/or abuse, usually against aforementioned marginalized groups.

2. Heights in general
3. When my vertigo is acting up
4. When my asthma is acting up and it feels like I can't breath
5. sometimes there is no trigger at all, I just have random anxiety
6. Public speaking
7. anesthesia/sleeping pills/anything that can force me unconcious. Having a lot of anxiety about surgery next week.

I think they were Eddings' early works? I read a couple and found them pretty boring. Elenium and tamuli are infinitely better, and the female characters (particularly in Tamuli) are varied and fun.

Honestly? taco bell. Because my tastebuds are weak to spicy. Also Taco Bell puts the sour cream right on the meat which is what I wish all taco places did.
