160. Seriously, you had me up until the point where you mentioned their "relationship". I liked her. She was a great character. But their interaction was totally one-sided hero worship on her side and bemused tolerance on his. If he had laid a hand on her, her mom would have shot his balls off. She is too young for him and it would have been kind of creeptastic. (She has issues with older men anyway; she ran off with GORDON when she was 15.) It kills me that the only people who like this character other than me are shippers who see her as a love interest. As a love interest, she FAILED. It makes me sad that she was not allowed to stay on the show because she didn't bring the sex. It makes me sadder that every time I want to sign a petition or join a comm for her, it is overrun with Dean/Jo shippers. You are not a special snowflake because you ship Dean/Jo. If you combine this with Wincest hate, you are REALLY not a special snowflake. You just need to find the right comms and ignore your friends list. I'm tired of your "revolution". It's not even that I mind the ship. People have the right to ship anything they want. I just wish someone liked her without thinking she needs to be Dean's girlfriend, as if there were no other possible role for her! (DEAN: So doesn't need a girlfriend. It would suck to be his GF.)

182. The idea that homeschoolers have no idea how to interact with others because they never socialize is a myth. Homeschool groups exist. Sometimes homeschoolers take classes together, or go on field trips together, or otherwise have regular meetings. Homeschoolers join organizations (Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts, sports teams, etc). It is possible for socialization to take place outside of school, you know.

All that to say, the homeschoolers you've met could have been obnoxious and/or arrogant for a wealth of other reasons besides just being homeschooled. Just a thought.

136.) Well, part of it is, for me anyway- I JUST LIKE VILLAINS. xD I think that's half of it for me, right there.

The next bit- I love how different of a villain he is- both comic!Joker and DK!Joker. He's funny (to me, anyway), sadistic, and just... quirky. But, I love the humorous aspects of him like WOAH.

I think it also just has to go with... I dunno, the lure of the forbidden, maybe...?

That was a very poooooor, sad little explanation, I know, but- I dunno. I go for these villains, and half the time there's no rhyme or reason. Something just clicks, and the next thing I know I'm swooning in my seat and giggling. xD It happened with Davy Jones this way- I just loved the character when I saw PotC, didn't know why, and each time I watched it, I found more and more things to love about him. But sometimes, I just stop and think, "WTF? Why?" xD

Even if they had slept together, that’s all it would have been - no way would Dean had actually wanted something more; he saw her as a little girl, not a women, and he never did take her seriously. Any ‘relationship’ they could have had would have been incredibly one-sided and unfulfilling. Plus, you know neither of the boys will ever have a lasting relationship on the show with a women; it just wouldn’t work.

Different fandom, but I feel like an oddball in mine as well. My OTP is based on personality compatibilities between a character largely ignored by fandom and another who is more popular but nowhere near a mainstream favorite. I believe that if they spent time together, they'd become friends or possibly more, so I set this up and watch things develop. The guys in question have fundamental traits in common and enough differences to keep things interesting.

I do like having a unique preference that honestly fits with my understanding of my favorite characters, and I have received great feedback about my work. Still, I know I'd get read more if I were inspired to write about popular characters and pairings. Obvious conclusion is obvious, but it does get discouraging at times.

tl;dr keep on trucking. ^_^

Exactly! Despite the obvious rarity of my OTP, I love it and I wouldn't trade it for any of the more mainstream pairings. And I have been very pleasantly surprised by the amount of positive feedback I've gotten on my fics featuring the pairing. But it can still be a little disheartening sometimes not having anyone to squee about it with, and knowing that, as you said, I would have a much bigger audience if I wrote for a popular pairing.

Just the other day, in fact, I came across a fic that was labeled as featuring two pairings: my OTP (character A/character B) and one of the more popular pairings in the fandom, character A/character C. I don't care for A/C at all, so I normally stay away from A/C fic, but since my OTP is so rare, I was curious about this one and just skimmed through it. It was told from B's point of view and essentially consisted of A rejecting B for C, which didn't surprise me since I knew the author was an A/C shipper. What was really depressing was when I looked at the comments. Not only were there a lot of them, but most of them were so long and detailed - these people were practically writing essays gushing about how much they loved the story. And all I could think was, "Man, if I started writing A/C, would I get feedback like this?" It kind of put me in a funk for a little while, haha.

Anyway, that was an incredibly tl;dr story, but all that to say that I empathize with the occasional frustration of shipping and writing a rare pairing.
