Not About Superheroes (A Private Little War) https://archiveofourown.org/works/747827/chapters/1394923 In less than a year, Steve has been brought back from the dead, adapted to a whole new world, plunged right back into battle again, and moved in with a bunch of superheroes. He's handling everything remarkably well. Except when he's not.

I like hurt/comfort first and foremost. I also love that this fic explores the struggles of being a person where traditional medication can't work on you.

John discovers that a handjob is an excellent way to calm Sherlock down and get him to stop being such an annoying arse. John really, truly believes that's all it is. The first few times.

I just stumbled across this a few days ago. I feel like I've read scenarios similar to this a dozen times, yet somehow this one feels new and different and better than all the others. The emotional transitions are just really, really strong - one of those fics that gives you porn and makes it feel like a full-fledged plot. And it's just so damn hot.


And I know this comm has approximately zero Johnlock people in it, but if anybody wants an EPIC 19th century Dickensian Johnlock adventure fic, Chryse's The Frost Is All Over is so damn good it's nuts.

Honestly, what isn't good about this fic? If you forced me to name one person the single best writer in the Sherlock fandom, I would probably say Chryse. The plot here is fantastic, the narrative style is bang on, the emotional development of the characters is gradually and deftly done, - plus more UST, angst, and adventure than you can shake a stick at.

I feel like Dickensian fiction and Christmas kind of go together, so now seems like an appropriate time for this rec. (Note: at first it might seem like this fic is going into "heavily underage characters having sex" territory. If that's a squick for you, don't worry, it isn't going there.)

First, it's *so damn funny*. But it's also so damn heartbreaking. It's Bucky breaking away from Hydra's brainwashing and figuring out how to *deal* - with the world, with himself, with his trauma. And Steve, too, figuring out how to deal with his need to *find Bucky now now now* and how to still have a life.

Amazing OCs, too, and...man. Yeah. So good.

EVERYTHING by silent walrus, but...here's just one: Barnacle Boy. Bucky is a selkie. Being a selkie is not quite what it says on the package. Sam doesn't know what to think about this. So fucking FUNNY.

Everything by Speranza ever, but - Four Minute Window. Another fic that has moment of hilarity but will break your damn heart, and make you cheer in your seat. A Steve and Bucky who have depth, who grow, how bring their pre-war lives forward and make them nearly seamless with their new 'modern' lives. And a Natasha that i just love! :D

I signed up to work graveyard on Christmas but they're only going to call me if they need me. I am pretty sure they are going to need me which is good because I can really use the money.

I'm Jewish so...I already sent holiday cards last week (ten total. That's it. I'm done sending cards to people forever. Never again. I found out who my true family and friends were over these past few years and it's ABSOLUTELY NOBODY. I have no one.) and I only gave one friend a gift ($5 towards a BPAL imp of her choice).

Depression continues to kick my ass but amazon prime hopefully just saved it. I'm not wrapping. That is just Too Much for me right now but I have most of the thigns ready to go for the people I need them for this week. Other friends understand they will get things post-Xmas day

Just downloaded Die Hard 2 and While You Were Sleeping, and will hopefully get to both. I haven't seen either.

There's this fancy Christmas fair thing I kind of want to go to tonight, but it's kind of expensive (probably about $30 per person all told) and I can't make up my mind whether to go or not.

Shopping and wrapping's all done! Wife and I are celebrating just on our own this year, and I'm honestly really looking forward to it. I adore my family, but this is gonna be really sweet. We're just spoiling the shit out of each other, hahaha.

I need to pick up some last-minute bits on my lunch break tomorrow, but most of my presents are sorted. Having the usual stress that my presents for people won't be "good enough" or imaginative enough. I suck at gifting. :(

Yup. I'm broke as a broke thing, so shopping was over ages ago. Tree that we went and cut down (legally) is up and very pretty, the house is about halfway clean, and my little brother might be coming down to visit.

All in all...life is pretty good. :D

I still need to wrap the small pile, though.

Shopping is done (except shopping for ingredients/food), wrapping will get done tonight, and hopefully so will piecrust. Gonna try and get the last ingredients before work tomorrow morning and carmelize onions and make fudge (totally separate things I promise) after work.

I’m being sent to a different, more distant work afFqlocation than usual tomorrow and since Sunday transit sucks on top of transit to where I’m going tomorrow sucking in general, I expect to take over an hour to get to work and more than two to get home, and about 4 miles of it will be walking. I’d take a lyft or uber, but I’m trying not to spend money on top of what I’ve spent already for presents/food.

I work all day Christmas Eve even though no one ever comes in :-/ I won’t have time to do anything before work so I’ll be cleaning house and prepping food for Christmas when I get home.

I defrosted my freezer/fridge (BOY was it frozen) and now the fridge seems to be working again! Hopefully it lasts so I don't have to get a repairman out or buy a new fridge!

Need some advice on dealing with memory issues

I got the results of some psych tests back and it confirms that I have SEVERE memory/inattentive problems. Like worse than 95% of the population memory/inattentive problems.

And on one hand it's obviously terrifying, but on the other hand I feel kind of relieved? I've been struggling to find and hold down a job the past couple of months and it's good to finally nail down that I have actual, diagnosable mental conditions that can be treated and considered a disability, rather than I'm just "lazy" or "don't care". It turns out that I am hardworking and diligent, I'm just dealing with a nasty handicap.

Does anyone have advice on coping with memory issues/inattention?

Do you prefer male or female gynecologists or no preference?

Why? I have only ever had female ones but I recently moved. There are no female gynecologists within an hour of where I live. I know they are all doctors but I am nervous about seeing a male gynecologist.
