There's a new kink meme for my tiny fandom, yay!
Problem is, the host logs the IPs of everyone who comments. Forbids people to change their mind and answer their own prompts even if nobody else will. And now just changed to rules to forbid people from posting more than 10 prompts, and force them to fill one before they're allowed to request another one.
I'm tempted to just nope out of there.
Thoughts?

That all sounds very "hmmmmm" to me. Maybe it's because I haven't been on kink memes lately, but that's a lot more controlling than I remember them being + too much policing for what should be a fun time. I'd nope out if I were you.

If it's a fairly new meme and it's getting a certain amount of traffic I think it's understandable to include a rule about "not more than 10 prompts at a time" because spamming a whole lot of prompts can flood the meme and lead to lower fill activity because it might overwhelm potential fillers. I'm generally a bit iffy about kinkmemes logging IPs though, but I guess that would be fairly easy to bypass with a proxy site or something.

But not allowing self-fills? That's just a... weird and unnecessary rule. Why would they do that?

To ensure you write/draw for someone else and don't spam the place with only your own fap material? I don't know.

I'd probably still participate because tiny fandom, but I'm a generally spineless sort. That mod is definitely drunk on power, tho.
(I'd be tempted to drop into all the local libraries and run multiple anon identities for a few week, then drop it all and go 'You expected multiple anons, but it was me, Dio!'

Yeah, I'm already mentally cataloguing all the places with public wifi I could go to to bypass the IP policing. The mod would easily see they're all hailing from the same town and probably guess it's all me, but how could they prove it? uh?

Hm, if it gets currently flooded with prompts, but no one is filling, I kinda sorta get that "only ten prompts" rule in a sense, but everything else sounds iffy. Especially self fills. Isn't that shooting themselves in the foot? Cause it's usually not just the OP who enjoys reading a fill.

It's been running for only three days, 40 prompts, no fills yet but what, it's still early and maybe writers haven't found the right prompt they want to fill yet because prompters are not allowed to submit different shit anymore.

I mean, that's not the worst kink meme, rule-wise, that I've heard of but it sure doesn't sound very welcoming (and if it has this many rule from the start, chances are it may get worse later on).

I can sorta understand the prompt thing (even if forcing people to fill them is a bit too much IMO) but the rest is a huge NOPE. There are ANON kink memes for a reason, so IP logging is a bit too much.

Still, I wouldn't call it a hopeless situation and it's for a small fandom anyway. I'd say they should brush up on some of the rules and allow anons to remain anons and polish some of the rules to make it more fandom friendly.

The "not more than 10 at a time" unless you fill one sounds reasonable to me. Generous, even. But the rest is BS, especially the IP logging.

But not everyone is able to fill prompts. Some people are neither writers nor artists yet have great ideas to submit and will squee and thank the authors and rec the fills and make the meme live... provided they're allowed to prompt at all in the first place. Which they're not anymore.

I barely have any fandoms big enough to collect ten prompts, but this is definitely a "no" for me.

I'd definitely want to know more about how the meme came to be. Did this fandom previously have trouble with people spamming comments, or trolling that required IP logging to sort out? I feel like there must be a reason for these rules, they're pretty over-the-top for a kink meme. If there isn't, the mod is probably just drunk on power and somebody else should create a new one. All these rules, especially logging IPs, are kind of against the spirit of a kink meme and could end up killing it.

Not at all. However the host has some history of her roommate leaving flames on a giftfic, showing with their one shared IP, and giving people the impression that she created a troll account instead of politely owning her disappointment in the exchange.

Yeah, get out of there. That's kind of ruining the spirit of a kink meme.
