I'll take things that didn't happen for $500

You don't think it's possible for someone to get a secretive job and have an affair because of the nature of a stressful job? OK.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
My general reaction, when someone is very dramatic and secretive about a very uncommon unusual experience on the Internet, is to take it with a very large grain of salt.

That doesn't mean it's impossible, just unlikely

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Having regrets is dramatic. Making them interesting for this comm more so.
I can't convince you and I don't care to. Just wanted it off my conscience as much I could.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-17 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, exactly. I mean, I work in a medical field so you could technically describe my job in the same terms - it's government work, there's a lot of secrecy, it hugely affects people's lives, there's major penalties if I breach the secrecy, it's very stressful at times. But it's also a pretty common job.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, THAT'S what people are finding difficult to believe. Not the whole "I had a hot sexy govt job that was like Torchwood and saw shit that would make your head spin but can't tell anyone about it" bit.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I ruined lives, man. My job ruined lives. Sorry you're not getting the in depth explanation you want. Government jobs are like that.

Did OP get innocent people killed? Because that's what I think when I hear "secret government organizations."

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
OP worked in acquisitions. It was soul rotting and people lost everything.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
God, I have a huge crush on Burn Gorman.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-21 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Same! The only reason I came into this secret was to say how I'll always thank Torchwood for introducing me to Burn Gorman. And also to say how much I've always hated and will always hate Gwen.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay but what did Gwen do?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Almost destroyed a good thing?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes her a horrible person now? Huh.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. Yeah. Rhys didn't deserve that just because she didn't know how to handle herself when she got in over head.

I never hated her for cheating on Rhys, though I do hate cheating in general. I hated that she cheated on him, told him TO MAKE HERSELF FEEL BETTER, and then retconned him so that there were NO FUCKING CONSEQUENCES.

People make mistakes. That is NOT a fucking mistake.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheating on her loving partner = bad

Cheating on her partner, confessing, then ERASING HIS MEMORY TO MAKE HERSELF FEEL BETTER = completely morally bankrupt, hang her in the town square

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
So . . . You cheated on your SO ‘cause your secret government job stressed you out?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-16 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
r/thathappened
riddian: (Eddie Brock what)

[personal profile] riddian 2019-02-17 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I hated that plotline and have never understood why it exists... and this secret does absolutely nothing to clear it up.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-17 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Being absolutely shattered when the world you've grown comfortable with gets upended and you find your content was really just...settling. And then getting swept up in the excitement of your new life and new job and all the new things you're exposed to and losing your damn mind.
riddian: (Wherever You Are)

[personal profile] riddian 2019-02-17 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah that clears up absolutely nothing for me, bit thanks

(Anonymous) 2019-02-17 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I get you, OP.
