No because my paranoid brain will never accept that I could truly get away with it.

I'm so temped to say "I have" and watch the fallout.

This show vindicates my Hippie preacher from Sunday School when I was a small child. A lot of the things said about going to Heaven/doing the right thing (in the series) are things he told us kids.

I'm really feeling clementines lately. They're like the perfect size for a snack and have just the right amount of tang. Eat a clementine today.

Meanwhile, I've had something of the inverse of this experience? There were a bunch of rapes in my home town a few years back, and for a while everyone was talking about them and what they'd do if they caught the guy, and it was ... There were a lot of people talking about hunting the guy down and beating him to death, and there was this implication that that was not only normal but kind of the moral thing to want to do? Like, you didn't love your sisters enough if you weren't willing to go hunt a guy down and kill him for them? And meanwhile I was there, and I could imagine fighting someone, maybe even killing them, in self-defense or defense of my family, if they attacked me first, but actually hunting someone, going to kill them, was not a thing I could picture myself doing. Even for myself or my sisters. So. You know.

I think it does depend on the individual and the context? In some places/times/circumstances it's maybe considered more normal/moral than others to want to harm someone, and people really do have different responses and desires relating to violence.

Eh, no one would believe you.

I thought the show did a really good job with God and Lucifer's relationship.

Yes. Not, like, a random person, only a very specific person - but yes, 100%.

I cried over a praying mantis that I accidentally squished with my basketball, so no.

I want to clean out at least some of my storage - all those things I put away somewhere 'just in case' and that sit there for years...
Also I need to read some very boring but important paperwork, and it's just sitting there... watching me... waiting... :/

If you mean like "any old random person right now" no, what would be the point?

If you mean "can you imagine some extreme circumstance or situation in which you would," sure.

The show's mythology is actually much closer to the original idea of Lucifer than most of the conservative Christians I know are aware (ditto the mother goddess stuff) so I can't talk about it with them. But I also avoided the fandom, because I figured it'd be full of a lot of ignorant posturing and bad information from non Christians. I felt trapped in the middle.

Strangers you still think about

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Basically people you've only met or saw once, but they made such an impression on you that you still think about them on occasion.

In honor of the older guy I saw once who bought ten pounds of ham only wearing overalls, no other clothes underneath.

There was some excellent music here. I was happy to hear some Adam Ant! I wondered if the musical cues were in the comic at all?

Some small podcasts

King Falls AM: Two late night DJs in a small, weird town. For me this is what I wanted WTNV to be.

SAYER: A podcast about Ærolith Dynamics, its employees, and the AI that is there to 'help' new employees acclimate to their new living situation. INNN SPPPACCCEEEEEE!

Wolf 359: A space crew orbiting a star have adventures as they try to survive the daily life working on a space station.

Lots of people think this way about lots of people. Either people who 'wronged' them (the jerk who cut them off in traffic, the idiot who got in their face in line) or people who 'wronged' others - a pedophile, a rapist, a mass murderer.

99 percent of people never act on the impulse, even if they sit around talking about it, or have some elaborate fantasy of it in their heads and yes, a big percent of the reason they do *not* is because they don't want to get caught and their life to become a shambles. And also because when it comes down to actual, physical violence, most people shy away from that.

So - you're not so different. Just keep on not killing people, and you're fine. :D

There generally isn't anyone I feel enough emotion about to want to go through the effort of having to kill them. I mean, yes, also morals and things, I'm not comfortable with the idea of violence, but on a more basic level I'm too lazy. You've got to go through the physical effort of killing somebody, by whatever means, and then the physical and intellectual effort of covering it up, and there's just nobody I know who matters enough to me to be worth that?
