Fandom salt thread

(Anonymous) 2019-03-28 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I missed yesterday's salt thread.

I hate fanon nicknames uggghhhh

Re: Fandom salt thread

(Anonymous) 2019-03-28 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't hate them all, but for some reason 'Hanni' for Hannibal (any incarnation) just... no. a) he doesn't seem the nickname type, and b) it's too cutesy for that particular character considering what he's done.

Don't be such a sourwolf. :D

(By which I mean, I hate them with a passion as well.)

Re: Fandom salt thread

(Anonymous) 2019-03-29 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't sourwolf sort of canon though, not fanon? I mean, it's one of those things to me that is hella fucking overused and it's importance in fanon seems massive considering it was used... once? but it still originated in canon?

No one ever calls Prompto "Prom" literally ever it is a bad nickname and everyone that uses it in fics should feel bad

Re: Fandom salt thread

(Anonymous) 2019-03-29 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, that nicknames is hilariously bad.

While I'm happy for the author of Mo Dao Zu Shi for having such success with her novel and even though I enjoyed the animated adaption so far, I kind of wish the animated series woild never have been made because that's what made it popular on tumblr. And true to form, tumblr antis have started to get their sticky ugly fingers on it. Fuck them and their negativity, persecution complex and general assholishness.

I just want a good platform for fanart. Twitter sucks and everybody left tumblr.

Re: Fandom salt thread

(Anonymous) 2019-03-28 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS. I hate Twitter and as awful as Tumblr was getting, it was still so much better for posting art than Twitter will ever be.

I'm all for it, but the filthy gaijin I follow don't use it though

Re: Fandom salt thread

It's hard for me to take anything anyone on here says about Twitter or Tumblr given how much people have failed at basic reading comprehension in the past

Re: Fandom salt thread

(Anonymous) 2019-03-28 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it intentional irony that you accidentally a word there?

Is this in response to the salt thread directly above yours (about fanart on Twitter) and if so, why?

Stop tagging stuff as You instead of reader!!!! Or do BOTH! I am sick of going through your 20 Character/You drabbles you posted individually because you decided just to tag it 'You'.

Just, bad tagging in general is frustrating. Don't tag a ship if they only get a mention. My current OTP has a bunch of fics tagged with it that are really mostly character A/OC and character B/OC. I read one of these fics, and there is one sentence mentioning that character A and B sleep together too.

Doctor Who fandom, you are bothering me today. Why can't you understand that not everyone things RTD was the most amazing thing ever and that Tennant was the best Doctor. Everyone just expects everyone to think RTD and Tennant were the best, and they can't fathom anyone having a different opinion.

Flight rising. Specific user. Nest rental thread. This user just keeps asking and asking. Every day. And each post gets more frustrated and angry that no one in fire has a nest available. Like they think they are owed a nest. I told this person I would be available in 4 days and yet still got a ping every day.

I hate Hunger Games AUs and Handmaid's Tale AUs.
They creep me out so very, very much.

In a way, the Hunger Games ones are creepier? Like, the HT ones are very obviously just for weird dub-con/non-con fantasies, but what the hell is the point of the HG ones? "I want to see these teenagers I like battle to the death or maybe starve"? I don't get it, and I honestly don't want to, either.

"I want to poke at how these characters I like will deal with this setting" is pretty self-explanatory.

I do Battle Royale AUs all the time, which is pretty much the same thing as Hunger Games AUs but with stricter (and more brutal) rules, and a smaller space to work in. I like them because I like playing with characters at their absolute limits. Fear is an emotion I like to write with because it helps me work through a lot of my own, and I like to play with the intensity of other emotions that it brings out. It's really not creepy. It's not like I'm in it for the massacre itself, I'm in it for the way characters come together or split apart under duress.

I wish people wouldn't tag secondary/background ships in fic in their proper ship-tag, just put it in the additional tags section. And I'm not saying this as someone who always stumbles across this(I have sometimes though), I can just only imagine how annoying it must be to try and find fic for your smaller ship and have it mostly be about X/Y instead.

Re: Fandom salt thread

(Anonymous) 2019-03-29 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
This + people should stop tagging & relationships as / ships.

I wish that on top of the tos & privacy thing that everyone not logged in has to agree/consent to ao3 would force direct everyone to a how to tag 101 page so people who don't know how to tag can learn. to. tag.

Please, please, please stop tagging your hate with the ship's name. No one wants to see your negativity here.

Anime fandoms: don't tag @doujinka with your complains. No one cares. And if they find their doujinshi online they will stop making doujinshi for the series and lock their stuff behind every lock they can find.

I swear there's more salt in the salt mines of my mind but I'm too tired to type it out.

Ugh, this. Or people tagging hate in the fandom in general. Just... don't.
