I recall in the last book, he didn't save any of the animals that hadn't been on his side, or something. That just seemed mean. Kinda like real Christianity I guess.

Also he scraped that one princess's back with his claws so she'd feel pain, for some reason.

I mean, the Last Battle was a mess overall.

Oh, yeah, Horse and His Boy? I don't think that was just for the sake of pain, I think it was something to do with her having whipped a horse? Maybe? It was definitely not out of malice, iirc.

He scratched Aravis's back because she let her friend take the fall for her (and Shasta's?) escape from Calormen and didn't feel guilty about it the thought of her friend being whipped because of her.

I didn't care for the Teaching Moment™ either.

But was it unlikeable just because of the preachiness (for lack of a better term) or because you thought he was wrong to do it at all? Because again, that just sounds like "not liking him because he's literally Jesus" as opposed to him specifically being "problematic" in some way.

I promise I'm not trying to snark or anything, I'm honestly confused here. If you're not keen on Jesus in anything, obviously Lion Jesus isn't going to land, but the secret to me reads like Aslan is specifically worse than other depictions of Jesus.

that was not her friend. that was her abusive stepmother's servant.

The servant who she'd never even thought about, and when Shasta asked what she thought happened to her, her response was, 'Meh, I expect she was beaten, I don't care, she's just my step-mother's slave.'

Aravis was in a terrible spot and I think the escape plot she came up with was the best she could do. On the other hand, I do think she's also selfish and thoughtlessly privileged and not good at seeing people who are not aristocrats as people.

I'm not mad about the whole mauling-as-teachable-moment sequence, but I can also see what Lewis was driving at, even if he didn't execute it brilliantly.
