This was me with Endgame. I'm honestly shocked and kind of disturbed by how much legitimate rage I feel about it. Even still! I have random crying spells about it, and it's not just like... getting teary. It's full-on hysterics. My twitter is a clusterfuck of multi-tweet chains about how wrong it was and how much of a disservice it was to the characters and the fans and I just... I can't let it go. I don't know why I'm so incredibly affected. I don't want to be.

My husband's nearing the end of his rope with me, I think.

I really don't get the hate for that moment. It was fun, and a reminder of how many awesome women are in these movies.

I've never run into anyone with this opinion that either a.) hadn't actually seen Citizen Kane, b.) went into watching it with a massive chip on their shoulder about how "overrated" it is.

It's considered one of the best movies ever made for a reason. For several reasons, actually. You don't know better than people who literally analyze film as their job. It's fine if you didn't like it-- but your opinion isn't objective just because it's not the common one.

Nah, this season was rushed as fuck. The writers had a choice, and they chose to rush. True, they don't owe anyone anything, but a little consideration would have gone a long way.

Hope things get better for you, OP, IRL and in fandom.

I don't see how Victorian it is, really.

Is that a Sims 4 screenshot?

This.

Although I found the story uninteresting, I still recall, 40 years later, my high school film teacher explaining that the things that Wells did in Kane changed moviemaking because no one had ever thought to do them before — stuff like high angle and low angle shots and actually showing the CEILINGS of rooms in the latter. Part of why the movie is considered great is because it expanded the toolkit.

Probably going to be as bad as the other ones.

It's an excellent movie and I'm a huge film geek, however there are some other movies that are considered classics that I think are much too overrated.

Aladdin currently has 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So slightly fresh, but only slightly.

Still kind of want to see it just because I'd like some mindless entertainment this weekend.

having the characteristics usually attributed to the Victorians, especially prudishness and observance of the conventionalities

I think that's an apt description of the 2010s but obviously YMMV.

(Not OP.)

I think it looks good on Thor.

The above just looks silly, but I haven't seen Endgame.

What scene or ending would you change if you could?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-23 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
How would you have written it differently?

Inspired by the clusterfuck that was the GOT final series, but all your favourite disappointments are welcome!

Oh man. Definitely Game of Thrones. I think between that and Endgame, I'd pick Game of Thrones. Endgame wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as season 8 of Game of Thrones. And the MCU has much better fix-it fics that I can pretend are what happened.

But top choice would be the How I Met Your Mother final. Still the worst ending ever for me.

Lol it's okay, I was stretched incredibly thin last year when Infinity War came out and actually, like, almost had a panic attack in the theater when a character I'm incredibly attached to just dissolved. Many years ago, I was upset for days because the finale of a show I was watching felt really unsatisfying and I was going through a lot at that time. This is normal, I promise, bb <3

(Anonymous) 2019-05-23 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
in fairness that's not an image from the movie

(Anonymous) 2019-05-23 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
sounds contrarian just to be contrarian

(Anonymous) 2019-05-23 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It felt entirely self-congratulatory was the problem. Like you could almost hear the Russos ejaculating all over it. "Look at all these awesome (second-tier) women!! They are all in one place fighting together! Because women! WOMEN!"

I just felt dirty watching it. Like I was being pandered to by a guy in an alley wearing a trenchcoat and nothing else.

I thought it was a nice moment because this was (supposedly, we'll see in like a year when they change their minds lol) the movie where his and Tony's stories end and Tony got his big finale so it made sense Steve would, too. And I didn't exactly cheer but I did love it. However, it wasn't a super OMG AWESOME moment because realistically if someone was making a list of Avengers according to likelihood of who can do it, Steve would be the obvious choice. It would have been far more powerful if it was Natasha who got to life it.

The only good Terminator is T2. Even the first one aged really badly. 3 and on is pure bollocks.
