Post yr gripes

People at work: When the toilet is clogged, do not put an "Out of Order" sign on it. Get a fucking plunger and unclog the toilet. Signed, the person who got a fucking plunger and unclogged the toilet after everyone else just looked at me funny.

But! Buuuuut! Then everyone knows who took a shit! And that's embarrassing, because nobody else on the planet does such a disgusting thing!

Like what do these people do at home, leave it and use the neighbors?? Signed, someone who cleaned toilets even though it wasn't their job...

Yeah, I actually went and bought a plunger a couple of incidents ago; we...didn’t have one for some reason? I’ve plunged and scrubbed shit off the walls of the public restrooms, too, not just the employee one. So far as I know, I’ve never clogged the staff bathroom myself, and I don’t mind unclogging toilets, but I’m always boggled by coworkers who are horrified to use a plunger. I assume they must have their jobs for fun money and not because they’ll starve without them, since they must hire plumbers a lot.

I don't get how people can be like that.

At my work, we are about 8-10 people sharing two 1-person bathrooms (one on each floor). Since there's only about 4 or 5 people on a floor at a time, it's hard to hide it if you were the one to clog it up. Having to plunge in (and we keep a plunger in both bathrooms) is significantly less embarrassing that leaving it would be because you wouldn't get away with it.

I love the trope of family of choice or found family but I hate when a show appears to have this but starts killing people off and making them hate each other just to keep things interesting and it ruins the dynamic and my enjoyment. I was interested until you started doing that. Now I'm not.

I agree with this so, so, so much. It's OK to just let us enjoy people's dynamic for a while before it gets totally ruined and changed!

Yuuuuuuuuuuup. Drama for the sake of having drama serves that purpose and no others.

I love family of choice, found family, and even “I found out my bio family is a lot bigger than I thought/bio-and-adopted family mergers. And honestly, disrupting them, or any other “wow things might actually work out for the best” storyline with gotcha-drama always sucks. Characters being content/happy=/=bad storytelling.

I am annoyed at how much of SW sequels fandom is centered around being horny for Kylo / Adam Driver

I understand it and respect it, don't get me wrong, but it's not what I'm interested in and I wish other things had more oxygen

There's been a news story going around Twitter today about a study that purports to claim millenials are bad at cooking because they don't know what a butter knife is.

And, OK, yes, I agree, obviously that's stupid as hell. But also, whoever wrote that tweet absolutely knew what they were doing, and you don't need to quote-tweet it with a long thread about how dumb it is, and your personal experience with cooking, and everything like that. It accomplishes nothing. It's pointless. No one really thinks that.

Worst judge yesterday. Didn't even let me talk. Had already made up her mind, as evidenced by the leading, biased way she asked questions of my client. Even though he and his entire family were obviously targeted because of their family relationship, she decided it was about money because one of the people happened at one point to demand money from them (one point in the middle of several different incidents, and never followed up on it). Ugh. And because it is a credible fear review, there is no way to appeal. And his sister won hers. So it makes no freaking sense. Ugh.

I wish my heart would stop racing.

Uh-oh. Is it something you ate, or something that just doesn't quit? Might be time to see a doctor.

I really hope my current physical/mental blah state is just PMS. When I woke up this morning, even my hands hurt. I’ve been trying to read most of the day, but having trouble concentrating and also a couple random crying jags.

Earlier I heard a crash from my tiny kitchenette and a nearly full glass bottle of molasses had fallen off a shelf and shattered all over the floor. After I cleaned it up I force marched myself out of the house and walked around the neighborhood until I felt something other than shitty. I felt hungry instead, and went and bought a veggie burrito. After I eat it, I’m gonna go walk some more so at least I’ll sleep tonight. And hopefully feel better tomorrow.

I’m still mad that Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company turned out to be run by the kind of racists-apologists who think inviting Cliven Bundy to be a keynote speaker at a conference is nbd because “it’s about gardening, not politics.” And the reason they gave for cancelling his appearance was that protestors against his appearance might get violent. You know, like his sons and supporters did when they took over federal land. Bundy said black people were better off as slaves. Fuck that shit.

Definitely take your business elsewhere and tell them why you did so. And maybe consider publicizing their racism to other consumers.

I know we're in a very necessary growing phase and it's better now than it's ever been but jesus queer media sucks. I'm so tired of having heterosexual romance jammed down my throat, but when I try to seek something that would resonate with me more, it's all fucking garbage and I'm left feeling even more alienated than when I started.

I'm pro choice. always have been.

But these days quite a few of the people who are willing to listen to me are on the right, or near to the right, or think of themselves as the right because the overton window is fucking up peoples perceptions.

So A lot of the people I'm friends with are veering more and more into the pro life side. I don't like that, but hell they're entitled to their opinions. The problem is I like to argue, you all know this.

And the pro life people are happy to oblige me. We can have heated but in the end respectful debates about this, where at the end, when they fail to convince me they let me go about my opinion with no ill will. Which is great.

Now the trouble is that pro life people are not the deranged anti-woman psychopaths that I had always believed them to be during my teens. Their argument are not limited to "WAHAHAHAH! WOMEN ARE THINGS THEY SHOULD BE LOCKED IN RAPE CAMPS AND FORCED TO BREED OUR FUTURE SOLDIERS!!!"

They often have good well thought out arguments, that I won't lie, make a lot of sense to me. And I worry they are going to change my mid on this. I don't mind chaging my mind on a thing, but this doesn't feel like the right way to do it. Having what I believe eroded by a constant wave of good points from one side.

I feel I might be echo-chambered. That is not an organic way to change your mind. I need to discuss this with other pro-choice people.

UNFORTUNATLY, most pro-choice people I talk to are... well they are exactly the way I was when I was a teen. it's the "If you don't agree with me you're evil" tactic. I'm getting nothing but the idea that the vast majority of the pro choice side are emotional angry people unwilling to talk things through. And that pisses me off. Because when the pro life people - People who literally believe I am advocating for infanticide - are hit me with good arguments and accept my stance is still opposed to them... And the other side are, broadly speaking, fucking psychopaths... How do you NOT feel the pressure?
