101. A friend is a friend as far as I'm concerned. Why does it matter that you met your friend through fandom? If you care, then say something! I've made plenty of friends through many different mediums and don't consider any less of a friend because of how I met them (whether through forums, livejournal, school, internships, friend of friend, etc. Doesn't matter!)

It's kind of hard to be "behind" in a language. If it's not your native language you're going to have to study it more or less for the rest of your life. I grew up speaking two languages (English and Polish) and still have problems in my second one's grammar! Learn the language that you want to learn; it will come to you quicker if you immerse yourself in it as much as possible (books, television, radio, NATIVE speakers, etc.) :)

122. I never did that since I'm not into yaoi; but I've suggested it to an ex-boyfriend that he and his friend would make a great couple and then joked around about writing fiction about it. I don't think he was very happy with that (especially 'cause a girl he liked before me thought he was bisexual... which he supposedly wasn't, but in my mind I see it, too! :O)

157. I'm a theatre major and I've seen many versions* as well, and the concert cast is my favorite too. I prefer Patti, but HBC was pretty darn good. I underrated her the first time I saw it because I was so horrified by Johnny Depp singing a tenor Sweeney.

*Let's see: Filmed: Angela Lansbury, Concert! Patti, Movie HBC. Live: John Doyle! Patti, Concert! Christine Baranski, and John Doyle! Judy Kahn.

Which brings me to 159! In 1999 I saw the 20th Anniversary Sweeney Todd in Los Angeles (http://theater2.nytimes.com/mem/theater/treview.html?res=9B05E7DF1631F93BA25750C0A96F958260) and went to the meet the cast gala afterwards. We saw Kelsey Grammar, Christine Baranski, and Neil Patrick Harris, among others. I was 10 years old at the time, and the tickets were the best birthday gift I've ever gotten. At said gala, my mum and I stalked overheard Sondheim talking to some other people saying that NPH was, "THE BEST TOBIAS HE HAD EVER SEEN."

So, you're not alone in your opinion. Sondheim and I agree.

121: Female characters in fiction is a constant source of disappointment. I'm going to recommend Slayers and Revolutionary Girl Utena, both of which have kickass female leads, different though they are. Still, I'm eagerly awaiting the day we'll get to see a female Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji team.

126: Considering how much of his life is taken up by his devotion to Sword-fighting and Luffy, I don't know how fun that would be...

128: Why is that? I've only ever heard good things about him.

142 Or you could try one of their anime? I mean, since anime is less of a genre than simply a medium to tell a story, the story variations are pretty much unlimited. 159 - "Meant to be seen" by whom? There have been so many versions of the story, by so many different people. There isn't a definitive one. Newer versions have lots of sources to draw on, just as Sondheim did by adapting Christopher Bond's version. In the penny dreadful, Tobias is described as 'young lad', 'mere boy', 'dull child', 'little lad' and 'poor child', and the apprentice before Toby was 13. I think that that points to Toby's original incarnation being around his early teens rather than older, so there is a precedent for portraying him as a child.

127 I don't agree. I'm not a big Gwynneth fan, but I thought she was perfect as Emma, and Northam as Knightley can't be beat. Ewan as Frank was also awesome. It's nice to have Emma a bit longer than just a movie, but I think the overall cast was better in the film than in the miniseries.
