141 - You know that Death Note ran in Weekly Shounen Jump, along with Naruto and Bleach, right? And under all that pretension it's just another silly shounen manga that, unlike other silly shounen manga takes itself way too seriously and pretends to be deep and controversial and shit.

146 - Actually, me too. I was sort of interested in the show and even started watching it, but all those rabid "Amuto" fangirls totally turned me off. Not in the least because I can't stand Ikuto (maybe I would've liked him when I was 12, but now...), and sort of like Tadase.

Actually, if you read "How To Read 13", it's pretty clear that the writer of the manga is...pretty shocked everyone was taking it so seriously. He says that he was just trying to write something entertaining and wasn't trying to make a statement on good and evil at all.

So basically it's just a case of fans taking the manga a bit too seriously.

Well, while I agree that there were few women who did important battlefield work, inspiring oorah oorah speeches or meaningful sacrifices, it doesn't mean the spirit of Gurren Lagann does not apply to them either. I was more annoyed by Joshua, especially when it came to his fighting style. I guess it was because I was so used playing as Shiki, whose battle style I found very easy to follow(Also, she was more likeable than Josh :P)

Hmmm, not the first time I've heard that - I keep hearing that he's really a bit of a tosser in real life, but don't really know any more, and don't have any real info. I know Julia Sawhala's sister has [allegedly] said she'd go for him like rabid dog if he came near Julia again, but that's about it. Shame, as he's so cute, but...he does sometimes come across as a bit of an arsehole on tv. :¬}
