Re: What is the most disappointed you have been with a piece of media?

Both a Tartt fan and a Secret History fan. I own a copy of the Little Friend but haven't gotten 1/4 of the way through.

Agreed. I think I prefer the dynamic of "Newt makes friends with other human beings" to what seems a shoehorned romance in the second movie.

Dance Moves You'll Never Forget?

What are they?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-29 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Some of those recipes aren't that challengingnthough. The contestants just always act like total tools who never set foot in a kitchen. They often don't just lack baking skills, they also seem to lack all common sense.

Check out these groovy moves, pal!

It is professional level decorating so they are quite challenging.

Re: What song got you into a new genre of music?

I wasn't keen on "cookie monster" vocals, but then In Flames released their album "A sense of purpose". "Mirror's truth" and "Delight & anger" were the true gateway tracks.

I'm the anon who started the thread, and yeah, MTE. Baking cookies or brownies or a cake isn't hard, but as soon as you bring any sort of fancy shaping and/or decorating into it, the difficulty level goes up very steeply. That stuff is a whole lot harder than it looks.

Lol, the Macarena. I was nine when it became a thing, so naturally I thought it was super cool. :P

I think he was supposed to be older than that in the script. Def early twenties.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-29 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed! And it boggles my mind that people are saying she's always been this way. She's never been this stupid! Illidan did way worse things than her, and he was retconned to be the hero.

Way ahead of you. I've decided most of the last 2-3 years in the MCU didn't happen so I'm ignoring it.

I feel this way about everything after the books.

Re: UFOs

(Anonymous) 2019-05-29 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Fucks sake. 'Aliens!!!' isn't even the most interesting conclusion to be drawn from these sightings in particular.

The objects sighted in these particular incidents in the article appear not to obey the limits of our current technological limits.

If the objects sighted truly aren't known to the US then that means another country (most likely China) has developed that tech. The implications for potential future warfare are worrying to say the least.

It's one of the best!

I love the How to Train you Dragon movies #1 and #2 to bits, even though they contained bits that made no sense I liked the cartoon series just fine, I thought I would like the 3rd movie too, I came out of it wanting to like it but... no. I'll have to admit that I hate it, and I'm twice as depressed, because the franchise is over, and because it's over in a terribly let-down way.

I read a fan theory which said Sybok was such a powerful telepath he created the idea in Spock's mind that he was his half-brother.

You are dictating the terms of people's mourning.

You do not get to do that.

+1, me too. Whenever I re-watch Jurassic World I go look for fanfics and there's maybe one new fic along these lines. Cue much sad. Thankfully they've stopped being "inspired by Macx's Pushing Boundaries verse" or "for Macx" now, so at least we get something that's more along the lines of the actual movies and less this BNF AU whenever we get a new morsel.

Re: What did you do today, FS?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-29 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The app vs program thing annoys me far more than it should.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-29 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's probably a crossover with the Amazon bizarre monster erotica genre, including Chuck Tingle's famous and Hugo-nominated "Space Raptor Butt Invasion." I suspect that that the bizarre monster erotica stuff started using dinosaurs before the recent Jurassic World movies.

(It was a joke nomination pushed by the Rabid Puppies, a group that were hopping mad that feminist and multicultural science fiction was getting nominated. Chuck Tingle trolled them right back. He didn't win.)

(Anonymous) 2019-05-29 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Just as a data point, wikipedia lists December 2014 for the publication date of Chuck's first story, "My Billionaire Triceratops Craves Gay Ass."

Me too, I felt my chest swell and tears well up immediately on reading that. Animals and their instinct for hard work and loyalty, but also their resiliency and ability to adapt, and that they know a 'home' and find comfort in it are just as compelling to me as humans. I think it's that because we share that with them that friendships with animals mean so much to me, too, and why the death of one makes me extremely sad because the animal is often dependent on us and our kindness, and that bond. I always miss my cats when I am away for more than a day. I know it makes them sad and it really gets to me, too.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-29 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, animals don't judge me like you do, so...

(Anonymous) 2019-05-29 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
But they never just mess up the decorating. They regularly mess up the most basic recipes for those cookies or brownies that you mentioned as well.
