What actors do you think were horribly miscast?

I don't think there is any realistic scenario, no.

I don't like it or anything but yeah probably. I'd say yeah probably of everyone else too, no matter how much they also don't like it.

I don't think most of us can imagine the circumstances in which we would or could - I can't imagine it either - but I bet they exist.

What is some media that other people (and critics) love...

That you can't stand.

Would you call Etta from Wonder Woman (2017) a secretary (or was she more a personal assistant?)

I don't know if I'm just especially evil or if everyone else is lying/deluding themselves, but yes, totally. I can only think of a couple people who I think deserve it, but yeah.

No, though there are people I do wish I could instantaneously erase.

Tom Cruise in Legend.

Yes! I came here to say this. They're supposed to be fun for adults to watch too. Kids don't take themselves to the cinema.

Found on Fanlore: https://fanlore.org/wiki/Watsonian_vs._Doylist

“And sometimes, a Doylist perspective is necessary simply as a fannish coping mechanism. For myself and only for myself, the only way I can reconcile the characters of Critical Mass with the characters I love -- particularly Elizabeth and John -- is to say "ok, the writers were smoking crack this week and there must have been a hell of a lot going on off screen that we weren't privy to." Because if I try a Watsonian explanation I end up with characters I really don't like, and I'm not ready to reach that conclusion on the basis of this one ep.”

I have a bigger problem with your use of "cunt" in this context.

People dislike things you like. How is this hard to comprehend?

Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs. He was by far my least favorite part of the film. He was like a cartoon character in an actual serious movie.

Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire. David Bowie would have made a much better Lestat!

I'll disagree on one point: Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, she fucking killed it.

Everyone else was terrible though I will agree(I did enjoy watching Will Smith play a bounty-hunter, but that wasn't Deadshot).

Kids are capable of recognizing when something’s repetitive and same-y so the it’s “just for kids” is kinda of an insult to children’s intelligence.

I just can't for the life of me picture Chris Hemsworth as one of the Men in Black.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-30 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
For me, the part that makes it shitty writing isn't the character doing X bad thing/not doing X decent thing, it's the fact that the writer continues to pretend the character did nothing wrong.
