Funny Pet stories

[personal profile] philstar22 2019-07-05 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
What are some funny things your pets do? Are there any things your pet really likes to play with even though those things aren't actually toys?

My cat is currently really into playing with ice cubes. Every time I get ice out of the fridge, she wants a cube for herself to play with. She'll bat it around the floor and then lick her paw. It is pretty cute.

my cat from time to time will creep into the shower and try to drink from it - and when she can't reach the stream she will lick the water off my legs or arms or w/e she can reach. she's a big weirdo.

Cats are funny. My cat will only do running water. She has a fountain now. But she still tries to drink out of sinks if one of us is using one. Or occasionally a toilet that is just flushed, though I can generally catch her when she tries that. She flat out refuses to drink out of bowls, though.

a diva! my cat likes drinking from the sink sometimes too, but it's tiny and broken so she always has to contort to get to it & it looks insanely funny. i love her

Awww. My cat's previous home was outdoors by a river, so I think she got used to the idea of running water=safe. She really likes the fountain I bought for her, though. Honestly the best purchase I've made for her. She even just likes to watch it sometimes.

I really want to get my cats a fountain. They have a bowl in here where the computer room is, but they prefer me to pour some water out on the tile i use as a coaster on my desk and drink the little puddle that forms.

I highly recommend them. I got a relatively inexpensive one. And I've more than gotten my money's worth out of that. Then again, my cat was actually dehydrated at the vets because she outright refused to drink from bowls. we've had the fountain for 6 months and she's completely healthy now.

Duuuude. My one cat waits outside of the shower EVERY MORNING for me to get out so he can go in and lick the entire bathtub clean of water.

Like... you have the best fountain money can buy, Jake. Why do you need body water??

I know this sounds made up but I used to have a Siamese cat that could say "hello". No one taught him how to do it, either, he just started imitating the humans.

Cats absolutely figure us out and make the sounds they think will get them what they want from us. My cat has actually started crying like a Siamese cat when we don't let her out on the porch. It is the saddest thing and honestly makes me want to comfort her. It sounds like she's in physical pain. She totally knows what she's doing. My mother absolutely hate's that noise and hates Siamese for that reason and has threatened to re-home her, though, so I'm not allowed to talk to her when she does that. But it is hard. She's smart.

I think so. It doesn't bother me. Honestly, it just makes me think my cat is smart to know how to sound sympathetic for humans. But then again, she's my girl and we have a special bond and there is nothing she does that I wouldn't find cute. Even when she attacks my feet I don't really mind. I can't be mad at her, I love her too much.

My relative's cat used to quack. Not very often, but she did. I thought they were making it up until I heard it one day.

I used to have a cat and dog that loved to chase each other. The cat would sit on the staircase and wait for the dog to walk by, then jump on her back and jump off really fast, and the dog would take off and the cat would chase after her. If the cat ever caught up, the dog would roll over, but usually they'd just give up after a few circuits around the house. who knows how they came up with it.

they also teamed up to claim a recliner for themselves, they slept on it together at night and we just got tired of cleaning off their hair every time we wanted to sit in it. so it became theirs.

My dog growls and barks at his reflection in the mirror. It never fails to crack me up.

My cat does this to her reflection in the glass porch door. And then demands to be let out to ward off the cat that is invading her territory. It is hilarious. She's absolutely convinced that her reflection is an invading cat.

My old dog would chase flies. He would stalk them around the house if he heard buzzing and growl at them, which was funny for an 80 lb dog.

Ha. My cat does that. But it sounds even more amusing from an 80 pound dog.

My cats have a couple carboard boxes for funsies. They run and leap into them, scooting them across the floor. They sit in them and judge me.

And then there's the one in my bedroom that's about six years old, filled with shredded/crumpled newspaper, that Oliver - and only Oliver - sleeps in (with wheezy little snores).

Diana picks up her skin mouse and carries them through the house, crying pathetically. Then she takes it to the dog's water bowl (or the cat's water bowl) and drowns it.

This sounds completely adorable. I feel like my cat is the only cat who doesn't like boxes. Well, she likes chewing them. But she doesn't like closed-in spaces. She's very much a tree dweller. She likes high up. But nothing closed in. So she doesn't do boxes or hide under things (unless they are relatively open). She's more likely to hide up on top of things.

Up top is the norm for most cats. Sadly, I only have a couple of 'up' places here for them - I need more!

Any box or bag they spot, my cats are *in*. Unpacking groceries is a chore, as they try to get into the bags while I'm trying to get things out. I usually end up picking up the (empty) bag and carrying them into the living room (they're cloth reusable bags).

And boxes, of course, are like catnip. They pounce, hide, and claw like demented fiends. Even tiny ones they have no hope of getting into...they try!

My dog loves ice cubes, too! The sound of an ice cube hitting the floor will bring him running from another room just so he can steal it and run away with it.

Our kitten like TV. Like. He loves TV. It has to be, like, Eureka, though.
