Maybe we need more artists who have big breasts and know how to draw them.

I don't think it's "body shaming" to recognize that a character's design is, or was originally, fetishistic.

OFC that doesn't mean that's all the character can ever be.

When Tifa's boobs got a little smaller for FF7 remake I groaned my lungs out. That's not what sucks about her body, it's the fact she has no muscles whatsover.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Her boob size feels like the limit they could go without making the body proportions completely off. I can give you the muscle thing, but it doesn't personally bother me.

I hate her new face tho. Something about it just bothers me, I don't really know why.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Seconding the anon above. I don't think the issue has ever been that she has big breasts. More that the reason she has big breasts is for fanboys to fap to and that makes it just plain gross.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't there a lot of nuance missing here? It's not that people are objecting to large breasts, it's more like people are objecting to ridiculous and fetishy depictions of them on female characters - female characters who are very obviously designed to be fap material.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The funny thing about Lara Croft that I guess nobody noticed is, most of her game models have pretty plausible size boobs, it's just her waist that's cartoonisly tiny and makes the boobs look big in contrast.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
The problem is, the era of gaming in which Tomb Raider first came out, there were big tiddy women galore. Many games from back then had uber sexualized women with big tits. It was kind of ridiculous. It clearly wasn't done as any form of body positivity from the creators, it was male gaze bullshit used to sell more games. It's pretty disingenuous to misrepresent their arguments as being against women with big boobs, when the problem is obviously the intent by the creators.

"Body shaming"
Like they're real people... -_-"

Good grief.
These are CHARACTERS, which were DESIGNED by real people! Most of these characters were designed by MEN! To be HOT!
Tell me if I lost you somewhere in there!

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, because unrealistic depictions in the media have no effect whatsoever on societal expectations. Did you take a wrong turn somewhere on your way to reddit?

They're not real people, but there are real people with big breasts who will feel body-shamed by comments about characters that look like them. I think that's what the OP meant by body-shaming.

I get what you mean, but there has to be an ounce of realism in a design for it to be defended from 'body-shamers'. Like how when Free! came out there was backlash from guys who were put out that their bodies couldn't realistically look like that irl, and were bitter. It's not the same, but both character designs were made in the way of eye candy.
Body shaming begun with characters, and models, and whatnot, with 'perfect' bodies that people just can get without plastic surgery/being born that way + rigorous exercise. So there's nothing inherently wrong with having that body type, but it seems it's come full circle where people used to say it was alright not to look like that, to, you can't portray someone looking like that because it's 'toxic'.
The picture choice isn't helping your point though.

“This problem isn’t sexist! You’re the REAL sexist for noticing!” Go be boring somewhere else.

As someone with a big chest... This ain't it chief.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd be really great if "big titties" weren't inherently linked to sex, ffs.

+1

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
it'd be great if titties weren't linked to sex period but for real, here

(Anonymous) 2019-08-03 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It's difficult for me. On one hand I think boobs of all sizes are amazing. On the other hand I hate how sexualized boobs are by neckbeards who are way too obsessed and disgusting about them.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-04 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I have big tits.

I still hate seeing them because they are NEVER done right. They're just there to be drooled over.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-04 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
The number of times I've watched the jiggle physics in something and reflexively clutched protectively at my own chest... Don't men realise that shit hurts?

As a chesty gal this is such a bad take. There’s a difference between a real person (such as an actress portraying a character) having large tiddies and a character designed by men for the sake of appeal towards men having balloon size tits in a skimpy outfit/boob socks that don’t obey the laws of gravity and are there for the sole purpose of titillation.

Sex positivity has nothing to do with it.

0/10 I think "titties" was the big giveaway.
