My cold has turned in to a sinus infection. I had two credible fear review hearings this afternoon that did not go well. Both of them will be deported. And likely murdered in their home countries. And those decisions are not appealable.

Nearly got rear ended on the way home. Had to veer off the highway to avoid an accident. And I ordered Thai food from a new place for dinner and it was terrible and spicy (even though I ordered it mild). But none of that remotely compares to the cases I lost. I need to shake it off and move on. But right now we're losing more than we are winning, and it is getting to me. I lost a bond hearing that I should have won yesterday too. I feel so bad for these people.

I did watch the original Wicker Man. I don't have any more horror in me, though. It is only about 6 PM, but I think I might go to bed. I did buy a bunch of new dragons on Flightrising. That perked me up a little. And played with my kitty for a bit.

Okay, now I'm watching Whose Line is it Anyway clips on Youtube. Sometimes I just need some humor in my life.

not super interesting so far but I haven't gone out yet. I couldn't get an invitation to a party tonight (I'm not counting the one that's literally 2000 miles from where I live) so I'm going to go to Rocky Horror.

Dressed up for work to participate in the annual Halloween parade (we go and visit the paeds ward all dressed up). Didn't win, but got a $25 movie giftcard for participation! :D

Had to call the cops on my new neighbors. Went on a walk after work. I was on my street but on the opposite side from my house. I was about to cross over to walk to the drive way and see this large dog. It was barking at me and running loose, but whatever. Dogs do that all the time.

So, I ignore it but as I am walking up the street, it is following me on the opposite side. When I get to about my driveway, I start to cross. This dog RUNS up on me barking and growling so I go back to where I was. Every time I try to cross it started running up at me like it was going to bite.

So I am just standing there and it is barking at me and won't let me pass. I heard someone yelling for it but it won't go because it is stopping me. The ONLY reason it left was because because my BIL pulled up and chased it off with his car.

Well, my BIL apparently met that dog this morning. When he went to start his car to warm it up, it was hiding behind it and snapped at him. He was like, "Thank god SJ (my nephew) wasn't with me." So, called the cops to report and aggressive dog.

They said if we see it loose again (the neighbors called it into their house) to call them. They asked if I could go talk to the neighbors but I am 80% sure they are tweakers. So that will be a no go.

Great! It's horrible weather, but people are still coming around. Got a lot of complements on my decoration, which was really nice! Dressed up earlier on in the day, and people complemented my makeup as well!

Quiet. I have candles burning and the lights off and i'm in bed with the laptop. No one comes to my house, so yay.

Plus, it's currently 32, dropping into the 20's as the night goes on. At least no freezing rain!

It snowed. Some people at work lamented that kids would have to trick or treat in snow (it's not that much snow, guys). My tales of trick or treating in the Halloween Blizzard of '91 did not impress.

I used to have one of those Darth Vader masks that would sound like his voice when you pressed the button. That was a fun costume. And I also really liked my Bellatrix Lestrange costume. And I was Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi (because I liked black) for something like 6 years in a row.

When I had a button-maker, I spent an entire evening cutting out the eyes out of a stack of magazines. Then I made buttons of each one and put them on a lab coat, and went to parties as the eye doctor.

My mom made me a witch costume complete with a wig made from green yarn when I was in 2nd grade.

'Witch', 'Gypsy' (I was...eight? seven?) and...hrmmmmm...and when i would go as 'death' in my ancient, black prom dress (i called it my Tatty Black Dress) that my mom altered to lace up the back and show my tattoo. White face paint and black, and a crown of fake flowers spraypainted black. Fun times!

My mom made me this awesome full on snowman costume when I was younger. There was a lot of costumes she made me and my friends while I was growing up, but that one had to be the most impressive.
I've done some high makeup costumes in the last couple of years that I've really been proud of. Mummy, Anarchist, Ghost, Ghoul, and this year was Two-Faced, but turned Broken Doll since I wasn't happy with the difference between the two faces.

Probably my Once Upon a Time Belle dress. It’s not as impressive as my Phantom of the Opera Christine costumes, but it’s the most comfy and practical to wear since it’s linen with a cotton lining in the bodice and short enough that it’s easy to move in.

I custom-dyed the linen, modified a bodice pattern to move the bust darts and add a second bust dart, made the bias bodice trim from ultrasuede, cartridge pleated nine yards of skirt into a waistband, hemmed it by hand, and patterned the cloak and skirt myself. Also I lucked out and found the same fabric used in the onscreen cloak for sale on ebay. And it was the first costume I made that can survive being thrown in the washing machine.

My Christine costumes are pretty cool and I like that for one of them I recycled a bunch of thrifted clothes for the fabric and some of the trim, but they have trains and are made of stuff that’s hard to wash.

When I was a kid apparently my mom gave up trying to make me stop wearing the bunny costume she made me when Halloween was over.

When I was a teen I took my dead maternal grandma’s wedding dress that mom’s asshole dad had ruined by putting it in the wash and made myself up like a ghost bride. Another year I made some disturbingly organic looking fairy wings.

I love Halloween and dressing up.

So, it is almost Christmas season...

How annoyed are you about how sooner and sooner the Christmas season starts?

In the Philippines where I grew up it usually started in July. So it honestly doesn't feel that early to me here in the US. Plus I love Christmas music and could listen to it year round. So it doesn't really bother me.

Very. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday so everyone bulldozing right past it to celebrate a month and a half of Christmas bums me out.
