then helping Jon and his ungrateful siblings defeat the white walkers.

LOL, this sad old refrain by Dany stans. The White Walkers weren't solely a Stark problem, or a Northern problem, they were an everyone problem. If they'd wiped out the North, they would have come for the rest of Westeros. You know, the realm Dany wanted to rule. It was in her best interest to help stop the White Walkers too. Not that she did much in the end. Hell, her damn dragon was responsible for so much of the destruction the White Walkers caused.

And I like how you frame this as the Starks being ungrateful, like they didn't have cause to resent Jon giving away the independence their family and people fought and died for, just because Dany gave him a chubby.

Because Dany didn’t sacrifice anything for them.

The only reason her dragon was killed was because she was rescuing Jon.

Tell me again, why did Dany have to rescue Jon? Oh, that's right, because the only way Jon could convince Dany to help was to fetch a White Walker to secure a ceasefire with Cersei. Because Dany refused again and again to lay aside her ambitions to do the right thing by the kingdoms she wanted to rule. FFS, even Stannis understood that helping the realm was more important than pursuing the throne. There was a lot of carrying around the Idiot Ball for Jon, Tyrion and Dany with regards the wight hunt, but it was all for Dany's personal ambition, because she didn't want to lose any ground to Cersei. Which, you know, is fair enough. Any person would be reluctant to postpone something they dedicated their whole life to getting when they're so close to it. But don't make out like Dany was so incredibly selfless the whole time, and the Starks not kissing her ass was some kind of moral failing.

Because Dany didn’t sacrifice anything for them..

The North sacrificed for Dany too. They died by the thousands to help stop the White Walkers and secure the safety of the realm Dany meant to rule.

What Jon SHOULD have done is help Dany take King’s Landing first and then stop the white walkers after with their combined forces.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Why on earth should the coming of an implacable supernatural army that's threatening all Westeros take a backseat to nobles jockeying for the Southern seat of power? Especially since the whole point of the independence the North fought for is that they no longer want to be involved in Northern politics because it brings no benefit to them, only harm. Those are some priorities, lmao.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
SA They no longer want to be involved in Southern politics, that is.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Because they’ll be stronger with the forces of King’s Landing added to theirs?

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
That's presuming they have the time to remove Cersei from King's Landing and mobilize their forces before the White Walkers arrive. And presuming they win. And presuming they don't take heavy losses even if they do win, which means they'd be fighting a tireless undead army with crippled forces. The White Walkers were a potentially world-ending threat. Cersei isn't.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, she was able to take King’s Landing with one dragon, imagine what she could have done with three.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but there was no guarantee of that. Look how easily Euron's navy defeated Yara's, or how easily he took down Rhaegal. An existential threat to all Westeros is more important than Dany sitting her ass on the Iron Throne.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
It sure seemed like the White Walkers were solely a Stark problem, for all the trouble they caused any of the other great houses.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
The North took the greatest damage and made the most sacrifices to save everyone. That the other kingdoms weren't affected is a testament to the sacrifice and heroism of everyone who fought the White Walkers. It doesn't magically make the White Walkers just the North's problem.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Literally no one south of Winterfell ever saw one, so try convincing them of that.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
... So? How does the ignorance of the Southern kingdoms make the White Walkers any less of a threat to them? It makes them more of a threat, if anything.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just saying that's how the show presented it. The Long Night was...basically nothing. Turned out the Starks actually could solve the problem themselves, albeit with enough faceless battle fodder to be nothing but a distraction while Arya did all the real work. I would have LOVED if the southerners actually had a reason to give a shit but since the directors thought that plot was boring, it turned out to be that way.
