135. Musicals and Baz Luhrmann pop-fueled films are both entertaining to me, for entirely different reasons and at entirely different times. The one is supposed to be characterized by original artistry and performance skill, while the other is about breakneck-speed innovation and reinvention of things that already exist. I like both, but I'm usually only in the mood for one. Go ahead and lose respect for me; you'll be far from the first or the last.

138. Just how many of these people are there, anyway? I keep hearing on this group about how a particular board or comm has one and I'm pretty sure it's not the one I used to be dumb enough to tangle with. Also, poem WIN. (Seriously, I think this is the best-scanning poetry I've read online this year.)

I think Internet Know-It-All Bitch is a common affliction, and every board/community/what-have-you has one of these jerks. If you're lucky it won't be a loud one.

<3 It annoys me that so much fan-poetry has no rhythm. Be consistent, dammit. And the stressed syllables have to fall in the right place, and... These are basic things, and I honestly think most fans who write poetry don't know that.

I think that's a secret for another time. :P

105. I edit for a living. Mostly weddings - it pays the bills, but I make AMV's on my off-time. And I'm still envious of some of the things I see in AMVs. There are some seriously talented people out there who just do it for a hobby.

You can make something heart-pounding and fast-paced without using all those flashy effects though, it all comes down to footage-choice and timing and you can rely on cuts and the occasional dissolve. I did that with my latest AMV and it worked out well. I have the ability to use the flashier stuff but I just don't like to, I know where my strengths lie as an editor and I play to that.

If you're looking for a good editing system where you can learn how to use those kind of effects, Adobe Premiere or After Effects works rather well. I've talked to other AMV editors whose work I envy and most use that, or Final Cut Pro, but Final Cut is rather expensive.

135. Ah, but MR! is far from the only musical movie to have done such a thing (take popular songs, throw 'em together, make a musical). Singin' in the Rain did it first, and people consider SITR a musical just as much as anything else.

I'm a theater kid too, but honestly, I love MR! because it's got a good story, the cinematography's on crack, and it pulls off both hilarity and tragedy all at the same time.

TL;DR Eh, everyone has their opinion.

After a long discussion lamenting the lack of Namine porn, someone suggested a plot line involving Dr. Horrible/Namine non-con and Stockholm syndrome and then discussing all the reasons that wouldn't happen then countered with a different suggestion in which Namine is kidnapped by someone else, placed in the doctor's care and a whole lot of him feeling bad for her.

However after bouncing another three or four equally silly, bad and/or OOC plots around and cackling to ourselves I realised a relationship between them, with their personalities could probably work though it wouldn't likely be even remotely sexual. It's kinda hard to describe because I'm terrible at the sense making-thingy-majiggy and translating exactly how I think it would work in to words.
