I've met her through a mutual friend, and pretty much every time, it was in a con scenario. She had little fangirls following her about. What annoyed me was that she seemed to believe everyone (i.e. me) who wasn't a big name cosplayer was there to fawn over her and was therefore beneath her. If I tried to talk to her, I'd be met with a disdainful glare! It wasn't until I noticed my friend had a computer wallpaper of her that I realized she was well known at all.

That said: she's pretty damn hot.

It's not a musical? Strange: I could have SWORN I heard music, and people singing. And I thought there was some pretty kick-ass dancing. Must have imagined it.

But... seriously. The movie Moulin Rouge that you're talking about is an off-shot from the 1952 movie, focusing on Henri de Toulouse Lautrec. So you could say that the 'fake musical' that you're talking about is completely a comedic parody, not meant to be taken 'seriously' by musical snobs like you.

God forbid you like a movie where they sing and dance and makes you laugh.

I don't like it because it's a musical. I like it because it's cheesy and funny and romantic and it teaches a good life lesson (the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return) all put to MUSIC. I even knew some of the songs before I saw the movie.

And because Ewan McGregor is in it, and he's sexy. And even though I'm straight, Nicole Kidman is HOT!

124. You don't have to like the protagonist to enjoy/be interested in the story as told through his/her eyes. I mean, look at A Clockwork Orange. Harry has always been sort of "eh" for me (I did like him far better as a character when he was a pre-adolescent), but so what? The story interests me and there are other characters I adore.

135. I saw this movie in the theater when I was Twelve. Hearing Ewan McGregor sing "Your Song" gave me the first romantic stirring of my life and cemented my first huge crush. I will gladly take that moment over your respect.

It does. And the musical numbers advance the plot. Just because it isn't an original score doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable (same goes for Across The Universe). The editing and choreography in The Tango de Roxanne still gives me chills.

I mean, whatever. At least it got musicals back into theaters. Of course, I have the feeling you're the "I lose respect for people who came to love a musical by first seeing the movie" type.

I've dropped some things in which I really did love some of the other characters' stories and wanted to find out what happened with them, but sitting through the main character wasn't worth it for me.

Isn't this a repeat? :/ That said, you don't have to have had sex to be able to write good porn, just like you don't have to be a psychopath to write a good psychopathic villain, and you don't have to have died to write a realistic death scene, and you don't have to be the opposite gender in order to write stories with a main character of that gender. When all of that is obvious, I don't understand why the porn thing surprises so many people.

105. For awesome and action-packed, it's really all just a matter of timing. And to be honest? Even action videos with tons of effects annoy me. 108. I don't get people liking them only because they smoke, but uh, smoking can be portrayed in a very sexy, attractive way. Sorry, but it's true. This (http://i34.tinypic.com/v618om.png) is and will always remain one of my favorite icons ever, and I find one character lighting another's cigarette to be incredibly hot, and I'm asthmatic AND allergic to smoke in real life, and find cigarettes disgusting besides, and know people who died probably at least partially because they smoked, and one who has cancer probably as a result. It's a horrible habit and I think you're being incredibly dumb if you start and incredibly gross and unhealthy if you do it. What I like in fiction still does not have anything to do with what I like in the real world.

118. As much as I liked their developing relationship, when she turned him down, I could really see her reasoning behind it (and not just LOL I LUV TEH MCKAY). She's very gentle and he's aggressive. Actually, it's not a musical, you're right. It's a jukebox musical (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jukebox_musical). STILL A MUSICAL just not an original musical.

Still. You know. If you judge other people based on what MUSIC they like, you have lost MY respect. Who cares what it's labeled as? It's not like musicals themselves are all exactly the same.
