105. Romeo et Juliette!!! I LOVE this musical. I think it's my favorite version of Romeo and Juliet ever. It's absolutely beautiful.

One of the biggest squee moments I've had was watching the 20th anniversary video of Les Miserables: the musical, when they brought out all the Valjeans from other countries productions of the musical, and there was Kaga. He's also on the Japanese recording of Jekyll and Hyde: the musical.

I've got a body type much like Yoko's to look at! The skinny waist, the curves, the heavy thighs, etc. I have contemplated cosplaying Yoko if it wasn't so revealing) just because it's nice to have a character whose shape I actually match

And. According to Wii Fit, my weight/height ratio (which is, you know, what gives my body its shape) leads to a "normal" BMI but a slightly high normal; it recommends I lose maybe 10 lb to get down to a 22 BMI, which is the perfect "normal" BMI.

So I gotta say that reading through these comments and hearing that I'd be horribly skinny and no real girl could be as skinny as me without being anorexic and I should be dying, yeah, that's really a healthy understanding of human body types and fat distribution in the normal range, guys.

I have a body type like that too! Hmmm .... Maybe I should start watching this anime now. Yoko is HOT.

Nothing wrong with fantasising :) And as someone else pointed out, you taking care of someone else doesn't mean you're going to stop taking care of yourself, too. I don't see it as changing who you are, it's more that you're expanding the circle of people to whom you want to give safety and comfort.

I'm probably not in an ideal position to reply to this since I'm not in the fandom and am only a casual House viewer, but I don't think it's fair to make that kind of assumption about someone unless it's part of an overall pattern.

Reactions like yours are exactly why I'd be afraid of participating in House fandom if I ever got more serious about the show. I hate Foreman. Flat-out loathe him and wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole, either writing or reading fic. Wish he would have left the show at the end of season 3.
My favorite character among House's applicants? Cole.

My dislike of Foreman has nothing to do with his race and everything to do with being unable to get over what he did to Cameron in Euphoria. Yes, people scorning a character over their race, sex, disability, or other marginalized status is a major problem both in and out of fandom and is a problem that should be addressed. But unless you know someone's motives or their past history with other minority characters, you can't safely assume that their dislike of your favorite character(s) is out of bigotry.

I'm pretty sure, OP, that I'm not the person you're talking about, because I don't write that much House fic. But Foreman doesn't interest me, either. And I think he would interest me more if I was a racist, because then I wouldn't be as uncomfortable as I am with trying to write him doing the things he does on the show (which involve taking a lot of shit from a lot of white people, and also being a huge asshole, not that there is anyone in that cast who isn't) with the unpleasantly stereotyped background the writers gave him, because why in the world does a black man who is a DOCTOR and behaves in a very upper-middle-class fashion need to have a criminal background and angst from the "hood" and a brother in prison? Not that such people don't exist, but gosh, it would have been way more interesting to let the black doctor be the one from a rich family with the daddy issues and the blond one who used to actually do drugs and BDSM could have the family in prison and the criminal record.

House MD? Has all the skanky race and gender issues some people think SPN has, which is almost as many as Heroes has, except I would say more, because everyone on House is supposed to be semi-realistic, not a superhero.

Anyhow, that said, what would you get out of "calling her" on this? Unless she steadfastly refuses to write any black characters on any show ever, doesn't have any black OCs, and clearly actually is a racist, you're going to:

* get everyone on LJ who thinks anyone who ever supported Slytherin in the HP fandom or doesn't like Maya is an OMG racist riled up at someone whom you say is your friend,

* not change your friend's behaviour, because this is so not gonna make her love you or Foreman,

* get on FW, which, if you like that sort of thing, fine.

And even if you did get your friend to write Foreman, she doesn't like him, so she's not going to do a great job, and she's not going to write you the fic you want.

Are you really omg concerned about your friend's racism? Then talk to her about it in private, because that is where change is most likely to occur. Getting people dogpiled in general tends to make them dig in and fortify their positions and say things that they later will regret (some people call this "showing your ass"; I tend to call it "reacting badly to the shock of having 5000 strangers in your journal"). If your goal is to change her opinion of your favourite character, talk with her about some of the eps he's in and find out how she sees him and point out why you think he's cool, and rec her some fics that you like (obviously, though, not something that's anti her OTP or whatever).

If, however, you are butthurt because she's writing the fics she wants to write and not the ones you want her to write...grow up. (SRSLY, the one person who put the most pressure on me to write Foreman when WE had this conversation was a white girl who happens to think Omar Epps is hot. i.e. not exactly a pure motivation there.)

127 - And it's because SPN's mythology is made so very believable! SPN likes to acknowledge that certain things are completely made up (unicorns, for example) and treats many of the classic approaches to mythology as nothing more than old wives' tales. It kind of gives their own stories a bit more credence (if such a word can apply XD).

I remember seeing that musical and ignoring Romeo and everyone else and instead drooling obsessively over this guy! I even made all my French class assignments about that musical just to find more information on the guy.
