Wish the Tolkien fandom was more active. Same with Babylon 5. I wish the Star Wars and Doctor Who fandoms were nicer and more live and let live about people with different opinions and also the creators that an individual may not personally like.

It's currently pretty dead and since there's not likely to be more canon stuff to bring new people in, I anticipate that it will stay dead.

People write it as a crossover from a larger fandom more often than they write fic for just my fandom, and I'm not in the larger fandom, so I can't get excited for that.

Oh, and there's some canon stuff that was speculated but not confirmed, and I'm on the denial side of that, and people who believe it annoy me.

The Starker fandom is like 95% daddy kink, infantilization kink, feminization, fluffy high school AUs, Mob Boss!Tony AUs, incest AUs, dark!Tony, and sugarbaby!Peter.

Absolutely none of which I like, and most of which I find outright squicky.

I love this ship, but wow I am a BAD match with the fandom.

Related to secret 7 - I don't think everyone in fandom has to agree that the TV adaptation of Mo Dao Zu Shi is amazing or that the show is an excellent example of representation. But I'm kind of baffled that anyone could call it "queerbaiting" or get mad that the creators decided not to risk jail time by not making the gay romance more explicit. I'm not even mad, just... huh?

It's a small fandom, and I'm definitely the oldest person actively in it. So 90% of the fans are fighting over ships, deciding which things are ~problematic~, and writing dramatic (sometimes wangst-y) stories based on their limited life experiences, and I'm like, "...What if the parents of these characters had a frank conversation about their relationship and then a nice evening in with some wine?" I would never complain about this (except for right now, anonymously); the kiddos are all super nice + good about commenting on my fics, and I comment on theirs no matter how OOC they get. But I do a lot of the time feel like that Marge Simpson "Kids, could you lighten up a little?" meme.

I wish people wouldn't act like it's mandatory to include all the things from Norse mythology when it comes to Thor and Loki etc. I'm into mythology so I do enjoy fic and interpretations that interweave those elements but Marvel was simply inspired by the myths and the MCU even less so. Idk, I just feel like some people are getting a bit militant about "but in the MYTHS this happened so nerr you're wrong!", somewhat with Thor but especially with Loki.

Like, one of my apparently unpopular opinions is I don't want Sigyn in the series. I don't want any love interest man, woman or plant in the series. And it's not because I want to imagine myself instead or whatever thing people like to accuse female fans (of male characters) of doing. I just do not give a shit about romance.

It's Star Wars, so where do I begin, lol. The shipping police, the purity culture around not just characters but the actors who portray them, fan entitlement, douchebros who think SW is and has always been for them alone. Recently tho what's s been baffling me is the sheer amount of time some people spend on hating something, whether it's a character or a ship or an aspect of the story, I see people devoting so much effort into hating, and I imagine it can't possibly be good for them. Like its spiking their blood pressure on a regular basis, you know?

All my fandoms are cartoons and shonen anime, so that's what I get for liking things for children these days (because when I was the child, adults and children in those fandoms got along fine and stayed in their lanes when it came to porn).

I was enjoying everything about a specific fandom... until I made the mistake of looking for lovely fanart and randomly found, in a deviantart pic, a rage-filled rant about how horribly sexist and racist that particular installment of the series was. (And yes, the rant was by the artist, who had drawn art from that exact installment.)

I'm not going to argue whether they were right or not (though honestly, I don't even know how they arrived at their criticisms). It was just so left field that it turned me off of the pic and I couldn't even mark it as a favorite. And I don't know why it bothered me at all when the post was so many years ago, and people have the right to their own opinions.

It's small and quiet, and there's almost zero fic relevant to my interests.

Fandom can become a clique. Certain people only share things with a few others, while blocking out other people once they no longer share the same enthusiasm or have a different opinion that deviates from the group. Even the fic writers in the group wrote fanfics for certain people. Then they had the audacity to say that they "get along with everyone" but that's a lie. Those same people drove away my favorite fanfic writer.

In the end, I remained friends with that fic writer and that fandom has died down.

Just generally being too old to hang out/connect with other fans on social media, nowhere else other than Twitter and Tumblr to go for it (I have not had accounts on either places in years, I hate them) so I have to keep the fandom squee to myself.
