What are the hottest professions?

Re: Inspired by #11

(Anonymous) 2020-05-17 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Firefighters. All the prestige of cops, with less of the culture of murdering peopple and getting away with it.

In my teens I had a massive crush on one of my teachers so although I don't know if the profession overall can be considered hot, I'm weak for that scenario. Though it's fraught with things like people being gross with the power dynamics. When I think about that particular teacher now, I don't think about it the same way as back then, I think about how awesome it would've been to have met when we were both adults.

You mean the ones that actually get me hot?

- Morally dubious doctors who provide prostate massages

- Sexy archeologists who go on adventures and break more shit in search of treasures instead of handling fragile, old pottery with care. Bonus if they have big... Assets.

Fantasy/Historical professions: blacksmith, courtier/spy, fencing instructor, occult librarian, prohibition-era saxophonist, old school vampire nobility, lady-in-waiting, beleaguered civil servant of a corrupt empire
Modern professions: mechanic, florist, librarian, shy professor, lumberjack

You can tell which genres of bodice-ripper I’m more fond of, can’t you?

Physicists. Any kind. Theoretical- Astro- Quantum- fill-in-the-blanks physicists.

Historians. Certain academics with PhDs or that are at least adjuncts.

I like the brains. Gimme dem brains. Scientists and mathematicians in general.

In theory, spies would be sexy, as well as anything that is morally dubious and puts the person in danger, but irl, I can't quite get behind it.

Farmer/Construction --- if you can make me a house with your bare hands, run a farm and provide for the family we would have, good Lord that does something to me. Of course, they must be into the arts as well.

I will admit my preferred cheesy romance novels involve high powered individuals. But IRL I don't care for it.

How was everyone's weekend?

It's raining too much. It's overwhelming the gutters and I'm totally going to get water in the basement.

Shitty, but that only means that next week will seem like an improvement.

1. An affordable piece of land I was hoping to buy to build a house on has been sold.
2. Spouse is grumpy and has been using me all weekend a s chew toy.
3. I had to call off a visit by my kids because we had workmen in to replace the water heater (thank you for that 5K bill) and I don't want to be face to face with them until 2 weeks have passed.

Doing alright but mostly tired because my sleep pattern is a bit wack at the moment.

I'm also trying to write fanfiction for the first time. I've written out a few scenes I really wanted to write, but now I'm stuck on how to begin it as well as how I'm going to sew my written sections together.

Mixed. On Thursday I was given a furlough notification. I've been working from home but the visitor attraction I work for simply cannot reopen if the Scottish Government are going to follow advice that requires social distancing measures. I knew I was likely to be one of the next (after the visitor facing staff) but I felt pretty shitty about it and basically had more beer than I normally would on Friday night because I was that pissed off. I know I'm being furloughed to preserve my job but I still feel so numb about not being able to work for at least 3 weeks. I love what I do.

The rest of the weekend was ok. We went on a nice walk yesterday, we're re-watching Rome (seriously still salty about how this got cancelled before its time) and we watched Knives Out last night too.

I tried to run for 10K earlier today but just didn't have it in my legs. I managed 5K, which after the shin splints I suffered on Friday was really reassuring. I've got a Garmin watch now and will say one thing...fuck Fitbit. I've had a Charge 3 less than 18 months and it has been nothing but trouble. For ages I doubted its distance/calories accuracy but the Garmin has exposed my suspicion. If anyone is thinking of getting a fitness tracker I will forever more say: AVOID FITBIT.

Not bad. I finished my homework and I’m watching Sailor Moon now.

Not too bad. Not great either lol. Doing laundry today. I haven't done it in about 2 weeks so there's hella laundry, sheets, blankets, towels etc. I did my nails yesterday (bronze glitter yay). My husband is making tacos for dinner tonight, woohoo!

If you could have any Item from any form of media, what would you have?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-17 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
(ie: a weapon, magical item, a scifi item, etc)

I'm watching Lord of the Rings and I kind of want Gimli's axe and helmet. I'd also settle for a fancy sword.
