New Dreamwidth layout

I'm usually pretty easy about website changes, but I'm really disliking the newest Dreamwidth changes that came yesterday. Makes it harder to read and I honestly thought at first there was some sort of error because it looks sort of like the way email sites look when you choose basic HTML.

Scrunching everything together like this in the comment headers is pretty terrible web design.

It's like 3 different font sizes in one place with icons that aren't visually vertically centered, then a tickybox randomly aligned slightly above that for no reason.



Who designed this?

This looks awful on my phone. The images are really wide and the comment section narrow.

I thought I had zoomed in on my browser without realizing until I checked that I was viewing the page at "100%." It's very in-your-face on Firefox.

Yeah, it's bugging me too. I'd had a custom userstyle, and it completely screwed it up. After a ton of messing with it I've been able to mostly get it to where I'm okay with it, but I still can't seem to fix the font sizes, and the weird margins/spacing. It's definitely annoying.

Even though it hasn't really changed, comment text suddenly looks HUGE to me on my iPad and phone. My brain got confused to the point it was like reading a large print book this morning.

Always really hard for me to figure out how to react to this stuff because I can't tell what's really a problem, and what is a reaction to the fact that I was used to something and they changed it

I do think that the dimensions of the text to everything else feel off. But IDK if I'll adjust to it.

Something about it is literally giving me a headache. I think it's something about the sizing a spacing of the text, but I can't be sure. I'm kind of glad this is the only comm I follow, though - if I were still in any fic comms, I'd be bleeding from the eyes.

I don't like it, either. It does remind me of when something has borked the code somewhere. Putting the webpage at 90% Zoom makes it look much better to me.

Firefox and the changes don't seem that dramatic to me? I'm not using any userstyles or anything?
Is there something I'm missing?

some suggestions for logged in accounts. won't help anons who are logged out, weirdly it would be a vote toward making yourself an account you can use to browse and just click "anonymous" if you want to comment. but. it doesn't look like there are going to be fixes that take effect for people just casually using the site without logging into an account.

I hate it. I can kinda get it to look readable on my computer by zooming at ninety percent, but looking at it on my phone makes my eyes ache.

On my computer in Firefox the text looks larger than before, on my tablet in Chrome the text looks smaller than before. In both cases, the lines of text look farther apart than before.

I went grocery shopping today while hungry and now the fridge is crammed full of food, but very little of it is ready-to-eat stuff. So now I have to psych myself up to cooking it all before things spoil because I hate wasting food.
