I was having this same discussion with my sister this morning. Mostly over how the Final Fantasy series has gotten more and more needlessly complicated over the years while Dragon Quest has stuck with the tried and true and, in my opinion, is far more fun.

I admit it's mostly the fault of his Hamlet. It's just so overblown and earnest and :/ I want more interesting, less orthodox versions of the plays - playing around with them a bit - being overly reverential is just dull.
