I've been active in my fandom on Tumblr again. Honestly, the Tumblr Tolkien fandom is the most positive fandom I've ever been a part of, and I love it. Everyone is so nice, and everyone is fine with everyone having their own opinions and interpretations. People say nice things in tags of reblogs and in PMs, they are friendly, and there is a great mix of serious/meta, shippy, and cracky/funny content. I just love my fandom so much. I know this fandom can be bad on other platforms, but on Tumblr we just have fun.

There's someone here who said they don't like Discovery because of the focus on a single officer, and I kind of agree with that. But season three seems to rectify that! The bridge crew got more sceentime in episode 3x02 than in the entire first two seasons. This is what I need from Star Trek - a crew of officers with different specialities and with unique emotional baggage working together.

Also, plotline for my fave Kayla Detmer. <3

The "Evil" fandom is slowly gaining a few more fans and a couple more writers here and there, which makes me happy :). It's still very small and quiet, but there's also no drama or nastiness, so that's good.

11,000 words in less than a week!

50,000 in a month is looking less ridiculous now.

I unironically like Monopoly. It's a tabletop game, often seen as boring.

Games... Well, I get motion sickness from 3D, so no Mass Effect from me. On PC I liked Diablo II (a bloody RPG slasher), The Sims Medieval (a sandbox game), Supreme Commander (a complicated RTS), Monkey Island 3 (An old quest with a great sense of humor).

Which is your most favorite The Lord of the Rings pairing and why?

There's a lot of LotR fans here which is wonderful to see. Which ship do you ship above all others from the series?

Thorin/Bilbo is the only one I got into. Though, Faramir/Happiness was something I could get behind.

Eowyn/Faramir, more book than movie since they get more fleshing out in the book, but I still think the little bits we get of them in the movie are cute.

And Thorin/Bilbo, I love me tragic-ships sometimes and this one hit me just right in the heart to be all over it.

Aragorn/Boromir for shallow reasons. I also like the conflict and their initial dislike of each other. I even read VM/SB back in the day.

Lord of the Rings specific, Legolas/Gimli. I honestly just love cross species friendships and relationships. I love how these two start out with difficulty and end up as such fast friends that Legolas takes Gimli to Valinor. I love the potential of it. I love the cultural complications. I love the family complications. I just love it.

Since there are so many LOTR fans here tonight, I thought I'd recommend this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zGTrNDVqpE

Johan de Meij's Symphony No.1: Lord of the Rings, performed in collaboration with a sand artist. It tells the entire story of LOTR using the media of orchestra music and pictures drawn live.

The symphony was written in the 1980s, so it has nothing to do with the films. It is very film-score-like, though, with themes for characters and places – for example, the theme at the very beginning is Gandalf's, and you'll hear it again throughout the symphony. The second theme, the one that's fast, is for Gandalf's horse Shadowfax, and so on.

The symphony has five movements:
1. Gandalf
2. Lothlórien
3. Gollum
4. Journey in the Dark (The Mines of Moria - The Bridge of Khazad-Dûm)
5. Hobbits
The order is not chronological for music theory reasons but for the performance with the sand artist, they played the movements in chronological order with Journey in the Dark in second place.

It's a pretty cool piece of fanart. I hope you like it! If you have any question about the music, want me to explain the themes or anything, ask!
