I'm the exact opposite, as I've gotten older I've stopped watching anything that isn't fantasy/sci-fi/fantastical in some manner, unless the show is very good, because I'm so tired of real-world shit I just want to shut my brain off for a few hours and enjoy magic or laser guns.

Not that your way is inferior, we're just almost polar opposites. :)
