156: I've always assumed that when he regenerates with a companion around, he aims for a form that the companion will at least find familiar; when he regenerates due to massive trauma sans companion, his autonomic nervous system goes for something familiar (e.g. close to his old body); and when the Time Lords regenerated him by fiat, they made him look like a 'normal' Time Lord. It does seem to be the case that most Time Lords are humanoid - the only one we've ever seen not be was Romana, and I suspect she was showing off. I'm not sure we have any evidence that they can swap sexes. There's no excuse on the ethnicity of the Doctor, although once he realized he was going to be showing up on atomic-era and post-atomic-era Earth a lot, sticking with the politically dominant type of human during that period was probably a smart thing to do.

Yes, I've put far too much thought into justifying the BBC's casting choices. :-(

I USED TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING FJDSHJG You know how in maths, and you're doing sums and simplifying things, you round the numbers up to the nearest 10 or round them down? Well, you always rounded 5 and above up, and below 5 down. I used to imagine that 1 was a small, quiet, pretty little girl and 10 was a vicious and aggressive boy. 5 Was the 'normal' number and couldn't decide he wanted to be rounded up or down, as 1234 and 5 are the most fitting ... yet he felt 1, 2, 3, and 4 were too girly for him. Except for 4, who he was dating. But 6, 7, 8 and 9 kept wanting him to get rounded up and 6 wanted to date him even though she was really nasty.

Whatever part of the fandom you're hanging out in that is saying that about The Boss need to be hit with something hard and possibly sandpaper-y. The Boss is strong, gorgeous and amazing in every goddamned way. Hell, The Sorrow is a BOSS FIGHT because of how much love, adoration and respect he has for her. She's such a well developed character and so important to the series as a whole, I can't see how or WHY anyone could possibly dislike her -- especially for reasons like "she's a girl".

Yes, we're all gay for Big Boss. Every male fan better be straight for Ths Boss (and female fans, go gay for her. EVA did.)

It's my understanding that the fandom started the Paterson Joseph rumors then latched onto it. Also, I really do not understand this arguement at all. It seems like you want a black Doctor for the sake of having one, when one would think you'd want the best person for the job regardless of their race.
