What fandom got you into fandom?

Are you still into that fandom?

Inuyasha. Not really in the fandom but I still have a soft spot for it.

X-men Evolution and the fan forum (called Extreme Evolution) I had randomly found on a search engine forever ago was my gateway into everything fandom related like Deviantart, Angelfire (to make fanpages/shrines), FFNet and LJ.

I'm not into the fandom as much now, but X-men in general is still a soft spot for me and I could happily rewatch the cartoons/movies or re-read some of the comics.

Dragon Ball Z. I am not really into any more. Most of the fic is just too terrible.

I never saw the show once, but The Sentinel. I was desperately combing the interwebz for m/m stories that didn't end in death or depression and had actual happy times AND sex, and found a Sentinel story. Wheeee!

I have never seen the show, and don't read the fic anymore (or in that fandom, like Steve is a Sentinel stuff) - but it got me aware that there was stuff out there that was exactly what I wanted to read. My first attempts at *writing* fic was Harry Potter, and though I don't write anymore in that, I still read.

Both Star Wars and Harry Potter. Got into both at the same time. I'm still into Star Wars but not into Harry Potter.

Star Wars, and hell to the no. I have utterly rejected SW fandom because it was and still is shitty.

Sailor Moon. I kinda despise it now.

Why do you despise it?

The fandom, because it's full of adult white women who still think that Powerful is a hot take, Grll Power aesthetic, omg so feminist! and all that bs that never got us anywhere. The series itself, because it reflects the fandom - it's not as woke and original as it likes to think it is. Great aesthetic though, even if it annoys me nowadays because of said fandom. But. Yeah, I'm glad for the memories. Back then, it was cool, we were cool.

Naruto! I stopped watching/reading close to the end of Shippuden though.

Highlander (the series) was my first fandom and Star Wars a close second.

I'm not sure the first really exists anymore (certainly not the way it did around when the show was actually airing and the Web was still a baby), and the second I'm mostly just on the periphery of. Like....I RP with a friend and I follow some folks on tumblr and every now and again I go read fic but it's rare.

Chrono Trigger

Technically, I'm not really in that fandom anymore, but posting new fic isn't out of the question (even if it is extremely unlikely at this point).

Wow. I was reminded that I never wrote the Cyrus/Glenn I promised 15 years ago. Whoops.

Yeah dude. What the hell. Quit denying the fangirls their hot, sweaty knight/squire sexytimes. What's the matter with you.

Yu-Gi-Oh. I'm not really in it anymore, but I still check out fanworks from time to time.

My whole room was covered in Monster Rancher doodles as a kid.

And yes, I still adore the franchise and occasionally scribble Suezos on work documents for laughs. Love seeing new posts on the official twitter account too.

Depends what you mean by "into fandom"... I was writing fanfic and drawing fan art and doujinshi for NES games back in the 80s and wrote an entire notebook full of TMNT screenplay based on the cartoon version about the time the actual first movie was released based more on the comics (I loved them enough there could be two movies!). Passed the notebook around to a bunch of people.

Mid-90s, I was drawing X-Men fan comics with my friends and discussing DS9 and X-Files every week... some local friends and I were taping Sailor Moon when it was airing on a local Fox affiliate at 5am and then discussing it the next day.

When I got on the internet a bit later, the two big things were the "SOS - Save Our Sailors" campaign aimed at getting more Sailor Moon dubbed, and the recent release of Final Fantasy 7, and since I'd been playing/doing fanthings for the FF series since the first game, I got right into both those internet fandoms.

I'm still in FF fandom in general, not SO much FF7, and I am still fond of Sailor Moon (and liked what I got to see of Crystal), so if internet fandom counts as fandom... kinda? And if the rest counts, I am still very fond of TMNT and X-Men, and if I knew where there was a fandom for those NES games I bet I'd enjoy them. ;)

I thought I was weird for writing crazy amounts of Tomb Raider fic that would never see the light of day on Notepad in the nineties, but TMNT screenplay notebook sharing and NES games doujinshi in the eighties? Maybe we have a winner!

I, uh, watch the Neflix reboot out of nostalgia and morbid curiosity and occasionnally read fic for it but I've switched for different fandoms a long time ago

Buffy got me into fandom in 2001, but I didn't really participate per se. I wrote horrible, angsty fanfic, and read angsty fanfic, and read comments in fan forums sometimes, but that was it.

I only got genuinely active in fandom in 2007, with The X-Files.

Harry Potter. Nope.

Re: What fandom got you into fandom?

Technically, Harry Potter. While I liked it growing up and my friends and I talked about it and went to the movies, I was never really in the fandom but(!), in college a friend of mine realized I liked a great many geeky things and had no one to really get into them with. So she sent me the link to a Darry fanfic she loved ('Pay it with Post its'). It was a fine story but I'm not much into Darry or the HP fandom but it introduced me to fanfic and the associated websites. It was all downhill from there into the Supernatural fandom(which I dropped years ago) and beyond.
