Got a estimate for repairing our basement wall. -__- Went on a walk to enjoy the weather before it gets below freezing this weekend.

Worked, edited fic between projects, suddenly had a song I hadn't thought of for at least ten years pop into my head because darnit if this fic was a movie it would be perfect background music for this scene. Now pulling out a guitar I haven't played in years (if I can find something to stand in as a pick) because even without it making me think of my OTP, it's a vocalist whose range and style is a lot like mine used to be back when I could sing. If I ever get healthy enough to sing again, would be nice to have something else to pull out when I'm near a guitar.

Watching the Bucks game, waiting for the guys to finish building my neighbors' new fence (its really nice!), and reading this crazy "Adam Driver assaulted an old lady with a chair on a film set and got crew members fired for looking at him...oh wait, none of that actually happened and he just bumped her chair with his chair while they were filming a scene together, and several people who worked on the film have come forward and said nobody got fired lol oops" story.

Working, and eating. And having feels about how much I love cats. Cats cats cats 🐈 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 🐈‍⬛

Got some legal work, spent several hours working on a motion that I thought would be quick, but ended up taking longer because turned out there was a stupid case by one of Trump's attorney generals that made it more difficult.

Also did 3 loads of laundry.

My jaw is really sore today. I slept well last night, but I'm still way behind on sleep.

Having a toothache :/

Made some fried rice. It came out pretty good.

Not going to go into details as someone here might know me but. I'm a pro in a fandom-unrelated thing by day, fandom enthusiast and obnoxious creative by night like many of us. I write fluff, the occasional smut, draw fanart, make graphics and all that. I also have somewhat-fandom-related hobbies such as BJD collecting, languages, programming.

For a while, I had a website to talk about my interests. I had a lot of fun, but then I ran into an issue: the audience. My first language isn't English and not a lot of people where I live are interested in my brand of fandom. Good thing in that I built a nice audience of few interested people and could always introduce them to new stuff, bad thing in that I also built a great following of homophobic haters, stalkers and generally creepy males. The bad overpowered the good, I quit. Based mental health. But I keep missing that. Having a website, talking to the nice people, sharing interests and advertising relevant stuff and all that.

Recently I got a new www domain and am thinking of what to build there but I'm stuck in a rut. On one hand, I'm thinking of having a domain for my creative works only, like a portfolio. Only keep the original stuff - the ones I could actually switch my career for - and leave fandoms out. Which I ain't sure is what I want, either. On the other hand I miss talking about fandom, but if I did it in my first language, some people would probably recognize me so... I'm thinking a fandom-related website in English might be a pleasant experience far from my past ones. But I feel like having both in the same place would be a bad idea anyway, like spoiling the inspiration so.

TL;DR: Do any of you own websites? Portfolios or fandom collectives or maybe both? Because you wanted to or because your job required? Those who speak two languages or more, how did you pick one to write in? I feel so inspired and stuck at the same time.

I keep my fandom stuff and professional/RL stuff separate. I do this because
A) i like the separation. My fandom life is precisely that. The world doesn't need to know what I'm into, what fic I like to read (fucked up or not) and what I like to write -- regardless if it is smutty, gen, fluff, whatever.
B) I am also thinking about the online footprint. Thinking about employers/anybody else. I just like to ask myself, if I became famous, would I want people to dig up my fandom stuff and connect it to me? No. Let them enjoy it if they feel inclined, but there's no need for the link of "oh! Anon is actually user123, writer of that one fic I love!!"

There are definitely some people who are cool with the world knowing they are "So &So" From Town, Country, age, with a profile pic, and they like writing Naruto/Sasuke fic and Fanart, and oh by the way, here's my portfolio I want to use to get into XYZ industry. I'm not that person. I don't even like regular social media (much if at all). Maybe I kept the ways I learned early on when online (don't mention how old you are, where you're from, and don't post pics). Maybe I sound ridiculous, i don't know. I'm just rather private and enjoy each thing in its place.

My original works are precisely that -- and I won't even deny where they're inspired by other pieces of media. I have no problem with that. I just like having those boundaries. There's a place to eat and a place to sleep. You can do them all in the same place, but there's nothing wrong with having different spaces. I write my works all in one language, but if I was aiming for a different audience, i might use my other languages.

I'd just say, get creating, even if you don't post it to your website immediately. Take advantage of your creative burst!

I'm afraid I don't have any experience with owning websites or creating portfolios, but I think if you're planning on creating a career-oriented portfolio, it might help you to have both languages on your website to bring in more potential clients. At the same time, I get why you'd have reservations about doing that since it sounds like your previous experience was terrible. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Best of luck to you on whatever you decide to do, anon.

English isn't my first language, but all my education from second grade onwards was in English, so it's basically my default language now. I only write in my native language when I'm communicating with a relative.

What are your comfort shows?

It's varied depending on what gets played in all-night/all-day marathons. When I worked nights, the X-Files, Monk, and Star Trek TOS were often played with several episodes back to back overnight on days I wasn't working, and I would throw those on while working on cosplay stuff.

Now that I work "normal" hours again it's harder to find that stuff but usually I can find someone showing several back-to-back episodes of That 70s Show, Frasier, or Golden Girls all afternoon.

Also for some reason the Karate Kid movies. Will never not watch those.

House Hunters International, Great British Bake Off.

Not 100% sure what 'comfort' really means in this case, but I very much enjoy re-watching The Closer/Major Crimes, M*A*S*H and Call the Midwife.
