Tbh I never thought the world building in this show ever made much sense. It worked on the level of: if you don't think about it too hard it's fine? But the moment you scratch deeper it fell apart. The SH culture structure was just one part of it.

Like I know it had the racism allegory with the DW's vs the SH's, but... using werewolves and vampires for that, y'know cursed afflictions that any sane person would want to get rid of, was such a bizarre choice. It would have been one thing if all the DW's were just different species of human/creature, but keeping to the curse nature of those two especially never made that allegory gel for me. And tbh warlocks and seelies weren't much better, one are the products of rape, and the other are between angels/demons but it's never really explained so it's all very ???

But then I was just here for Malec and a few of the ladies so I didn't really care about the flimsy structure of the universe, I'll forgive a lot worse if I enjoy the characters.

I just take what I like for fic and discard the rest tbh.

That show was such a guilty pleasure. I didn't care about the worldbuilding at all except to laugh at it. I was just there for the pretty.

I don't watch kid competition shows. But I've always loved Valerie (watched her on Hot in Cleveland, her home cooking show, the two family cooking shows, and the various times she's been a judge on things). She's just so warm and encouraging and kind. She'd make a great mom.

To me they are different because Monica and Chandler were never genuinely mean to each other, at least in the parts of Friends I saw (I stopped watching about midway through). Then again, these days I prefer the Trio together to any pairing. Every pairing has its weaknesses. They just work better all together.

But yes the ship wars were stupid. People take shipping way too personally. There is no right or wrong way to ship. And if people interpret differently than you, so what? Doesn't mean they are wrong. This is fiction.
