Amen. I really thought today was the day I would be getting help. There was an end in sight. I'm so tired of this.

I get it. The opioid epidemic is real. Drug addiction is real. But for crying out loud, pain is real too. I'm so freaking sick of doctors who just outright refuse to subscribe anything stronger than an NSAID.

Saw the ENT for my jaw today. She was okayish. Had some ideas for long-term things. But she wants to look at the root causes, like my sleep issues. She's willing to do a botox injection, but that would be in a month, because my insurance will want a CT scan first. Meanwhile, she says she simply doesn't do muscle relaxants or painkillers. She was only willing to prescribe me some kind of NSAID I hadn't tried before. NSAIDs are not nearly strong enough for this pain.

Can you get low dosage codeine/tylenol mix over the counter there? It's the only thing that works for me for pain in my face.

The government is taking the easy way out by making it almost impossible to get the help with long term pain. They can say "look at how many pills we kept off the street" by going after doctors and chronically ill instead of illegal drug dealers and people who abuse drugs. I have chronic pain. On MRIs you can see how my spinal is disintegrating. You can see how arthritis is distorting the area where my neck meets my spine. You can see how bad the bones are deformed in my foot making walking more than a few feet impossible without horrible pain. OTC meds do nothing.

I was seeing a pain doctor but all the new restrictions that the DEA and FDA keep rolling out each year made his job harder and harder to the point where he retired. I was taking low dose of Norco to keep the pain manageable. For the last 7 months I have gone without meds while waiting to see a new pain doctor. Pain infiltrated every aspect of my life. I even dream about it. I have never been so close to killing myself then I have these last few months. All because I and other people who can't fight back make the war on opioids look successful.

I'm definitely feeling the effects of not having a strengthened core this last year, especially as I get older. Covid can eat shit, and so can sedentary lifestyles and desk jobs. If I don't do something soon, I wouldn't be surprised if some kind of surgery ended up being on the plate sometime down the road. Even sooner if this pandemic doesn't end and I don't watch myself.

Sorry about that. COVID has killed my exercise too, because my main form of exercise was swimming. Pretty unsafe to do that with COVID. I really hope you don't end up needing surgery and that your body ends up being okay.

Fuck you for putting heating pads on shelves on your floor so people with back and leg injuries have to go down on our knees to get them.
Fuck you for hiring people who think I mean diarrhea meds when I ask for stuff to get the oil out of my skin.
Fuck you for hiring people who, when I ask for an eyeshadow set that isn't 90% brown, bring me one that is and then deny it. I'm looking right at them, I can see they're fucking brown.
Fuck you for your six feet long receipts. The trees should not be killed just so you can give me coupons for shit I never buy.
and lastly, fuck you for discontinuing your almond, cashew, macadamia and pecan blend that was super yummy and that NO OTHER NUT COMPANY I COULD FIND MAKES.

Uck. Sorry. Yes, Fuck CVS. I honestly have always preferred Walgreens, and I'm very happy that it is a Walgreens that is the nearest pharmacy to us. We've always had great service with them. We use them so much that all the pharmacy staff knows all my family by name and sight.

I feel you, friend. CVS sucks. And the sad thing is, they didn't always. Back in the early 2000s they were a pretty good store where I could always find what I needed. But now they're just plain busted-ass, dirty places with empty shelves and expired shit for sale. 😒

So I got a permanent, written citation on my work file because I was emailing a friend on my work email to ask if they were having a snow day and it accidentially got cc'd to the head of hr. How? I don't know. The email addresses don't have anything in common.

Okay, cool, fine. I screwed up. I'll accept that slap on my wrist.

But now I get me-specific rules which mean I'm not allowed to send anything to anyone that's not work related and I'm not allowed to use my work computer for anything other than work (even though before this we were allowed to use them for personal browsing at lunch/on breaks) and I'm not even allowed to sit at my desk at lunch on my OWN devices.

It's covid! Our lunch room can only hold 10 people in it right now. We're a workspace of over 200! where am I supposed to sit? Everything is closed?

And, y'all, I admit it, I'm super pissed because my direct supervisor sells fucking Avon through her work emails but I got in this much shit because I emailed a friend asking about if they had a snow day.

I just. I don't want to look for a new job. But I feel like I really ought to and I resent that too.

One thing I always do is use gmail for friend emails (IT only sees gmail urls if they happen to monitor what employees do) and work email only for work. I know it's a pain in the balls.

Ugh, fuck IBS. I have a routine colonoscopy scheduled in a couple of weeks and hopefully it'll be better by then. But in the mean time, it's diarrhea, cha-cha-cha. I tried a sitz bath today and it helped a little, but I still have abdominal and back pain, plus my stupid overactive imagination keeps playing the what if game with me and it's just so exhausting.

Ugh, that sucks. I have IBS too, mine is usually the opposite with lots of constipation tearing things up. My new diet is helping, but still getting used to it. I hope you get things figured out and treated and your body starts feeling better.

only a small vent after having read your pain issues:
i had the worst fucking migraine that i had in years and went to the doc, who sent me to the ER for imaging.
I didn't get any imaging done, but good (!) iv meds in a proper dose, so i was able to leave a few hours later. everyone was nice and chill, even with covid being present.

they asked if i were pregnant, i told them no chance in hell, and they tested for it anyway.
